Here are three marriages that definitely didn't stand the test of time, they didn't even come close!
Britney Spears and Jason Alexander: 55 hours
On January 3, 2004, Britney Spears and her childhood friend Jason Alexander exchanged vows in Las Vegas in a spontaneous declaration of... possibly love. However, only 55 hours later, Spears had to annul the marriage after her team found out about her rather hasty decision. The annulment may have been quick, but this decision has definitely stayed on Britney's record for a long time.
Later, Spears herself called the marriage 'silly' and said she was 'being rebellious'. She said, as quoted by ABC News:
It was me being silly, being rebellious, and not really taking the responsibility of what I was doing, you know? And after partying, you know, you really don't think about what you're doing. So it was one of those things that were really silly
Later in the same year, Britney tied the knot with Kevin Federline after three months of dating. They had two sons together, and shortly after the birth of their second child in 2006 they announced their separation.
Alexander, her spontaneous Las Vegas lover, reappeared in her life but under much more bizarre circumstances. He was arrested for gatecrashing Spears' privately held wedding to Sam Asghari in Los Angeles, in 2022. Britney and Asghari also split up after just over a year of being married.
Nicolas Cage and Erika Koike: 4 days
Since becoming an international star, Nicholas Cage has had his fair amount of challenges. One of which included an impromptu decision that he seems to regret.
Indeed, the Hollywood actor had, quite impulsively, gotten married and annulled the same within four days of tying the knot in a secret wedding in Las Vegas back in 2019.
According to a report by USA Today, Cage and Erika Koike, a make-up artist he dated, were drunk 'to the point of intoxication' and didn't know what he was doing. All he said of the marriage was:
There was a recent breakup. I don’t really want to talk about it. I was pretty upset about that and the way things happened.”
Jeremy Thomas and Drew Barrymore: 39 days
Way back in March 1995, at the young age of 19, Hollywood star Drew Barrymore tied the knot with the owner of a bar. A man she had only been with for six weeks by the time they got married.
At the time, Barrymore insisted that she was sober when she decided she wanted to take the leap with Jeremy Thomas, who was 31. While she may not have known what she was getting herself into prior to exchanging vows, she later confessed in 2019 that she 'realized my mistake the day I married him.'
19 days after the wedding, Barrymore separated from Thomas and their divorce was finalized the following year. Barrymore definitely had the naiveté of age on her side, but why did a 31-year-old agree to such a whimsical idea? Well Thomas told RadarOnline:
I didn't marry her because she was Drew Barrymore. I married her because she was cute!
Barrymore, however, has claimed that he married her for money and a green card. She said, as quoted by Nicki Swift:
He turned out to be the biggest schmuck I've ever met
He gained everything. ... It was a green card situation. That's why I couldn't tell anybody.
