It’s getting to the point in Strictly Come Dancing where we’re truly gutted to see any couple go. This weekend, it was Adam Peaty and his professional partner Katya Jones who had to leave the ballroom after the judges unanimously voted to save Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin in the dance-off.

Adam Peaty on leaving Strictly
Adam was visibly emotional after the dance-off and later took to Instagram to elaborate on why his Strictly journey meant so much to him. Sharing a series of snaps of himself and Katya on his grid, Adam wrote:
I didn’t know how much it meant to me until I got a bit emotional after my dance off; however, I don’t think it was the dancing that pushed me over the edge, but the two years of the constant challenge with myself combined with the energy to win the Olympics and becoming a father at the same time. My emotions are one of my strongest attributes and I’m not ashamed to show that I’m human.
In an inspiring message, he continued to say that in his final week on Strictly he had learned to ‘let go’ of his ‘armour’ and show his emotions. He also went on to praise his ‘incredible’ professional partner Katya Jones, ‘amazing dancer’ Tilly Ramsay and all of the behind-the-scenes crew who work on the show.
Adam Peaty’s big two years
Adam welcomed his first child—a son named George-Anderson Adetola Peaty—with his partner Eirianedd Munro in September 2020. Just a couple of months later, he broke the world record for the 100 metre breaststroke (short course) at the 2020 International Swimming League in Budapest and this summer he won two gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics for the 100m breaststroke and the mixed 4 x 100 metre medley relay.
