Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary: Rumours suggest This Morning summer hosts are 'feuding'

This Morning can’t seem to catch a break. In May 2023, Philip Schofield, the host of the show and star of the channel, stepped down after claims of an affair with a coworker resurfaced. This story shocked many and rocked the This Morning boat to its core. Since the drama started, ITV has been investigating while desperately trying to find a replacement for him. Holly Willoughby has been seen hosting the show with several people but the final decision has yet to be made.

Now that Willoughby has taken her annual summer holidays, Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary have been announced as the summer hosts. They will start hosting on 10 July. The duo has been presenting The Morning every friday since 2020. They were also the ones to step up when the Schofield drama first started and Holly Willoughby took a week off the show.

While both of them are loved TV hosts, on 8 July, rumours about their relationship started. So, are we looking at another possible scandal for This Morning?

Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary host This Morning

Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary have been announced as the summer hosts of This Morning but the news comes to no surprise considering the fact that they have been hosting together every Friday for the past three years.

Outside work, the two are known to be quite close. Indeed, they have known each other for many years and seem to share a genuine friendship. They regularly post pictures of themselves on their respective Instagram accounts. On 24 May, Hammond posted a picture of the two for O’Leary’s birthday saying:

Happy birthday babs !! Many happy returns my lovely . Have the best day

Fans of the duo are really happy with the announcement that their favorite pair will be hosting this summer. In the comments of the announcement you can read:

Moreover, Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary have offered fans of the show some iconic moments which promise to make their summer hosting the more entertaining.

Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, are they really feuding?

The announcement that Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary are the summer hosts was followed with rumours about a possible feud between the two that started on 8 July.

According to LBC ‘executives’ of The Morning are ‘said to be worried’ that the two are ‘won’t make for a steady partnership.’ The rumours continued to spread with the Daily Mail reporting that the relations between the two hosts ‘have become increasingly strained.’

While the rumours have been circulating, ITV released a statement that denies those allegations. In the statement which was given to Mail Online, the boss of the show says that:

Alison, Dermot and Holly are all valued members of the This Morning family and all enjoy working together on the show, as well as having friendships outside of the show

The statement also calms rumours about how Hammond and Willoughby are no longer as close as they used to be.

Finally, while drama has been surrounded This Morning for the last few months, the rumours about Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary are to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Indeed, as said before the two have known each other for many years and are known to be supportive of each other. In a clip with 2022, you can see O’Leary trying to get Hammond a job for Britains Got Talent.

Finally, on 1 July, Hammond retweeted a video of the first time she met O’Leary. The video has over 300K views. The clip shows a young Alison and Dermot at the start of their careers. The fact that Hammond shared the throwback video comment ‘Wow’ and tagged her cohost may be a sign that there is no feud between the two.

Viewers will have to make their own mind as the pair starts their summer job on 10 July at 10am.
