Brigitte Macron's massive real estate holdings
As France's First Lady, she has taken part in various official activities and addressed some major topics, such as school bullying and violence against women. A mother of three children from her marriage to her first husband, she is now a grandmother to seven grandchildren. The Trogneux family is a large one, whose heritage is not only cultural. Indeed, Brigitte Macron's estate is quite sizeable, even more so than that of her husband. As the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, she is generally the subject of speculation and curiosity about her fortune. And it has to be said that she enjoys a substantial estate, which you can discover below.
As part of the publication of his declaration of assets, Emmanuel Macron had to reveal the financial details of his wife, Brigitte Macron. The First Lady, whose wealth exceeds that of the President of the Republic, mainly owns a sumptuous villa in Le Touquet, inherited from her father, as well as some judicious real estate investments. At the heart of Brigitte Macron's fortune is the villa Monéjan, her family residence in the chic seaside resort of Le Touquet, Pas-de-Calais. This four-storey, 250 m² house is named after the First Lady's parents, Simone and Jean.
In 2011, Brigitte and Emmanuel Macron undertook extensive renovations to modernize the Villa Monéjan. These renovations were partly financed by a 15-year loan of 350,000 euros taken out by the President. To date, a sum of 127,000 euros remains to be repaid to the Crédit Mutuel bank, with monthly payments amounting to 2,400 euros, according to French publication Figaro Immobilier. According to estimates by a local real estate agent, the current value of the Villa Monéjan fluctuates between 2.7 and 2.8 million euros, reflecting the significant growth in its real estate assets over the years.
In addition to the villa itself, Brigitte Macron benefits from two adjoining commercial premises, which she rents to a real estate agency and aready-to-wear boutique respectively. The rents generated by these investments earned the First Lady the sum of 27,599 euros in 2021, representing a significant increase on the 23,586 euros received in 2017, the year Emmanuel Macron became President.
A family-run chocolate factory
A native of the Amiens bourgeoisie, Brigitte Macron is heir to a well-known local empire: the Trogneux chocolate house. Founded in 1872, this chocolate house, which also makes macaroons, has been in existence for six generations, giving the First Lady a prestigious family heritage. Every year, two million macaroons are produced at the company's eight sales outlets in Amiens, Le Touquet, Lille, Arras and Saint-Quentin. This includes a chocolate bar on the Parvis de la Cathédrale in Amiens. Jean-Alexandre Trogneux, current owner of the Jean-Baptiste Trogneux chocolate factory and nephew of Brigitte Macron, lamented an 80% loss in sales during the COVID-19 pandemic.
