The Beckhams are one the UK’s staple celebrity families, covering a range of talents from football to fashion. Model Nicola Peltz is a recent addition to the family as she married her boyfriend of 3 years, Brooklyn Beckham, in 2022. The pair tied the knot with a wedding bash held at Peltz’ family estate in Palm Beach, Florida. Now, Nicola has her own film out, Lola, which she directed. She also stars in the movie, and gave a cheeky cameo to her husband. However, things didn’t work out, and he was axed from the final cut.

Lola is Nicola’s directorial debut, but she has worked as an actress since the age of 11. Her father, billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz, once famously claimed she was ‘a world-famous actress who has starred in blockbuster movies and television shows, including, among others, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Bates Motel and The Last Airbender’. However, none of these films have achieved much in the way of critical acclaim. Perhaps Lola will be her big break into the industry, so let’s take a look at what the film is all about, and why Beckham won’t feature.
Nicola Peltz as Lola
Lola is out in theatres now, and tells the story of a woman fighting to save her younger brother from their abusive family environment. The trailer features clips of Nicola’s character crying, laughing, playing dress up with her brother and having some cutting conversations with her mother.
Nicola is the youngest of eight children born to Nelson Peltz, who is currently married to his third wife, former model Claudia Heffner Peltz. For a long time, there were rumours of feuds and fallouts between Nicola and her famous mother-in-law Victoria Beckham, but these were put to bed at the end of last year. There was also talk of her hoping to boost her profile in the UK, but maybe that won’t be needed if Lola is a hit!
Beckham axed from the film
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Nicola joked about her husband’s cut scene. She revealed that Brooklyn, 24, is ‘actually really upset that he did get cut from his one little cameo’ but that she reached a point where she couldn’t cope with him at work:
He had one line, 'Hi,' but he kept saying it in a British accent and he was staring directly into the camera.
I was like, 'Oh God, we have to move on, good lord.'
She explained that he ‘ended up on the chopping block’, but that she remained very grateful for his continuous support on set. Nicola explained that she also gave a small part to her brother Will:
I wanted my brother to have a much bigger part, but the thing is, to anyone who might not know he’s my brother they might be thinking to themselves, wait, why didn’t she end up with that guy?
Well, the answer is wimple: the bigger role would have seen Will play opposite his sister as her love interest. Fair enough, really.
Nicola also spoke about Victoria and Cruz Beckham making the effort to come to the recent premiere of the film in LA:
For Victoria to fly out and for Cruz to be there and support me, it means so much to me.
I was talking to everyone all night and I didn’t even sit down once.
