Drug mule
Every star has a success story, but The Charlie’s Angel actress Cameron Diaz’s story is different, to say the least. The Sun reports that back in the 90s when Cameron was struggling to make ends meet, she was conned into travelling to Morocco for a modelling gig with a packed suitcase.
She only realised she had been duped into unintentionally transporting an illegal consignment when she was stopped by a customs official at a north African airport. Cameron confirmed:
I started working as a catalogue model and I got enough money to move to Paris and get an apartment, which I shared with a girl who is still one of my best friends. But I was there a full year and didn’t work one day.
I couldn’t book a job to save my life. Then I got one job but, really, I think I was a mule carrying drugs to Morocco — I swear to God.
This was the early Nineties and they gave me a locked suitcase that had my ‘costumes’ in it.
It was only later that the actress realised that she had been used for smuggling drugs and was lucky enough to find an escape from the situation.
Back to business
Cameron has recently made a comeback to her acting career after an eight years break. She will be starring with Jamie Foxx in a new Netflix comedy. Interestingly, the title of the film is - Back in Action. Despite being a household name and the highest-paid actress over 40, Cameron quit the film industry in 2014. She settled into family life after she married Good Charlotte musician Benji Madden. Even now, she believes her greatest role is that of a mother to daughter Raddix.
