Lopez and Affleck were the talk of the town in August 2024 after the singer filed for divorce after two years of marriage. Indeed, court documents were obtained and it revealed that the singer filed for divorce on her own and without a lawyer.
Lopez had listed the reason for divorce and had also listed the date of their separation, which was much earlier than when she filed for divorce.
Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce
As reported by Harpers Bazaar, Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce on August 20, 2024, exactly two years after she and Ben Affleck married. According to court documents obtained by People, Lopez cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for their separation, Moreover, as per the documents, she listed their separation as April 26, 2024, four months before filing.
The court document also showed that the singer requested that Affleck be dropped from her legal name and she wants her former name, Jennifer Lynn Lopez to be restored. As per Harpers Bazaar, Lopez also cited she doesn’t want herself or Affleck to pay spousal support and she wants their property separated.
As per Harpers Bazaar, the court document cited:
The exact nature and extent of separate property assets and obligations are unknown to Petitioner at this time. Petitioner reserves the right to amend this Petition when same is ascertained.
