Craig Revel Horwood: Who was the Strictly judge with before getting engaged to Jonathan Myring?

Strictly’s Craig Revel Horwood has crammed more living into his 58 years than most people do in a lifetime. From trading sexual favours for dancing lessons to being a drag queen in Australia and now being a household name in the UK, his life has been one eventful journey. And so has been his love life. Here’s what we know about his past relationships!

Craig Revel Horwood met Jane met while sharing a house in London during Craig's stint in the West End show Miss Saigon. According to The Mirror, they got together at the start of 1990. Craig, who was a 25-year-old man in love back then, proposed to Jane in the spur of a moment. The 30-year-old also accepted the proposal as both of them were keen on starting a family.

Craig initially thought he’ll be married to Jane for the rest of his life and have kids. However, life had other plans for him. Two years into the marriage the couple got divorced after Craig found her in bed with a mutual friend, confirmed MailOnline. He revealed:

I was both gay and straight, so being bisexual, it wasn't a big issue for me or for her. We were two people who loved each other, coming together and wanting to have kids before it was too late.

I was young and stupid when I got married and I suppose I wanted to see if I could live a normal life, but she started going off with other guys, so it came to an end. I believe in monogamy.

Speaking to Kaye Adams on her How to Be 60 podcast, he explained:

If that relationship had worked out, I could have seen a life where I would have been married to a woman and had kids, without a shadow of a doubt.

After his messy divorce and betrayal from the love of his life, Craig swore off marriage. He shares an amicable bond with his ex-wife now but back in the day, things were left difficult between them.

Craig Revel Horwood and his dating history

Before finding love again in his current partner Jonathan Myring, Craig had a string of failed relationships. He was previously in a relationship with Britain's Got Talentpuppeteer Damon Scott before the pair called it quits in 2016.

Speaking of their romance, Damon revealed that the two were somewhere toxic for each other. He said:

We could get through a bottle and a half of vodka between us in a night. At times that was a daily thing. If I drank that much now I’d be hospitalised.

Damon and Craig dated for three years before parting ways before Craig ended the relationship as it had ‘no future.’ Hello! Magazine confirmed he dated another man for five years before Damon and split from him in 2011.

Craig Revel Horwood and his fiancé Jonathon Myring

After his string of failed relationships, Craig is currently with horticulturalist Jonathan Myring, who is 22 years his junior. They met on a Strictly tour where Jonathan accompanied a friend and have been together ever since. Craig once shared:

He is fabulous and I love him, he is absolutely gorgeous and adorable, and yes he is 20 years younger.

Craig dated Jonathan for two years before getting engaged in 2020. The proposal took place while they were naked in a bubble bath together on a romantic holiday in Australia. Jonathan popped the question but his initial plan for the proposal was ruined by Craig. Jonathan said:

It was a slight disaster really. I had a beautiful engagement planned in Tasmania and Craig refused to go and sit on the banks of the river to look for platypus. So I had to call him to frantically call him to go

Craig added:

That's because the last time we waited for platypus, it was four hours and we didn't see one. So I wasn’t going to sit through that again, was I?

All I wanted to do was go back to the hotel and have a bubble bath.

Well I jumped in the bubble bath and then Jonathan jumped in with me and proposed in the bubble bath with a glass of champagne.

The two were set to tie the knot in 2020 but the pandemic delayed it to 2022. The two then further pushed it back to 2023.
