Danniella Westbrook: After shocking new photos, here’s a look at what happened to the EastEnders star

Danniella Westbrook is known for her roles on soaps such as EastEnders and Hollyoaks.

She joined the first in July 1990 when she was just 16 and stayed on for 3 years. In 1995, she was asked to come back but she had become addicted to cocaine and was written off the show.

Her drug addiction has been vastly documented by the British press and has been the cause of other health issues for Westbrook. Indeed, she has been diagnosed with osteoporosis which is described as a ‘condition that weakens bones, making them fragile and more likely to break.’

Danniella Westbrook, the impact of her drug use

Danniella Westbrook started her entertainment career at a very early age and, at 16, she was offered a role in the now iconic soap EastEnders. She stayed on for several years and was brought back onto the show a couple of times.

But while her career started early, Westbrook has shared that her drug use did too. Indeed, according to The Mirror, Danniella Wesbrook started doing cocaine when she was 14.After years of intense drug use which Westbrook calls ‘wasted years,’ it started to have a significant impact on her health.

Indeed, she admits that her ‘nose is notorious’ because of its lack of septum, the bone that separates the nostrils.

In an interview with The Sun, the star says:

A lot of people aren't here today with addiction. I'm lucky to be alive. It was my own fault. It's a part of my journey and a part of who I am.

While she has now treated her cocaine addiction with rehab, she insists that this is still an ‘hour by hour’ process. Moreover, the star is now plagued with osteoporosis which is causing her face to ‘melt.’ The combination of the condition and her past drug use is now forcing Westbrook to have reconstructive plastic surgery.

Danniella Westbrook, a plastic surgery nightmare

Danniella Westbrook has struggled with addiction for a very long time. On a panel at UK Rehab, she shared that her drug addiction was replaced by a ‘plastic surgery addiction’ which led her to having 6 boob jobs. She also says that she is now ‘correcting it.’

However, as we talked about above, her drug addiction caused drastic changes to her body, especially her nose. This is why, she had and is set to keep having, reconstructive surgery.

At the beginning of May 2023, news broke that Westbrook had undergone plastic surgery in order to help the consequences of both osteoporosis and her drug use.

It was also reported that the surgery was ‘traumatic’ and unsuccessful.

She says:

They were also supposed to reconstruct my nose, which is what I went there for, but they haven’t done that. They put 200 threads in my nose to straighten it, but it hasn’t worked. So I feel like I’ve wasted my time. The main thing I wanted doing was for my nose to be reconstructed.

She also added that she regrets going abroad for her surgery and that she will be ‘I’m going back to my surgeon in Liverpool to get my nose fixed. They’re going to rebuild all the bridge in my mouth and build up the front of my nose.’

When she shared details of how the surgery went she said that ‘the whole thing has been awful.’ She also revealed that she thought she was going to die and even wrote ‘a will’ before having the surgery.

But the most shocking details of her experience have been about how the operation itself took place. She claims that the operation was done without aneasthetics and that she was slapped by the surgeon.

She alleges:

He's gone behind me, grabbed my face, he's gone, 'Stop f*****g moving,' and slapped me on the other side of the face. I switched. I went, 'Who the f**k are you slapping?'
