The Beckhams filmed a documentary in 2023

Last year, a dream of many Beckham fans finally came true. David and Victoria finally agreed to create a documentary about their lives for Netflix. It was a complete success with almost four million people who streamed Beckham as soon as it released.

In the documentary,, the couple reflected on the former professional footballer's career and his marriage. The two appeared approachable and almost vulnerable, which pleased and touched many fans. At the same time, the couple touched on many memories—the good, bad, and the ugly.

David Beckham reveals filming was tough

While Victoria and David Beckham are true media professionals, filming the documentary was a real challenge given how private they've kept their lives for so many years. The49-year-old has now revealed:

We don't just open the doors to our house like that... I hated almost every moment of the shoot... It was very difficult.

It was not easy to be constantly surrounded by cameras, even in their own home. That was one of many reasons why the Beckhams had long resisted such a project.

However, David goes on to reveal that there was another aspect to filming his own documentary that made him nervous. Not only were they apprehensive about letting strangers into their homes, but the former football hero hadn't been ready to talk about the ups and downs of his career as well. He said:

It took me a long time to come to terms with the fact that I was going to make it but there was a few reasons why we wanted to make it. When I retired I wasn’t ready to talk about my career and what had happened.
It worried me and it made me nervous and it made Victoria nervous

Ultimately, they were pleased with the result

Despite all the initial concerns and discomfort during filming, the designer and the ex-professional footballer seem glad to have taken the plunge into the unknown. Looking back, they are so happy and 'love the result'. This is one of the reasons why they are now working on another documentary which will be centered around Victoria Beckham. David added:

I’m really excited about this one because she is an amazing woman.
She’s a strong, driven, passionate person who’s gone from being a Spice Girl to being respected in this industry, it’s very tough. She’s worked hard for 18, 19 years on her business and suddenly she’s having the success she deserves.
