Donald Trump: All of the President’s TV and film appearances over the years

Donald Trump was a businessman before becoming President in 2016 and again in 2025. But did you know that he has also appeared in films and TV commercials?

On November 5, 2024, Donald Trump won the presidential election. On January 20, 2025, he officially took office as the 47th President of the United States. Before entering politics, the 78-year-old was a business and family man.

However, something you may not know is that Trump has dabbled in acting too. One of his most iconic and well-known cameos is in Home Alone 2 when he helps Kevin in a hotel. But did you know that he has appeared in 31 productions, often playing himself. Moreover, the President has also done several TV commercials.

Donald Trump’s cameo in films and TV series

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

As mentioned above, one of Donald Trump’s most recognised roles in film is in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York in 1992. In this role, Trump is stopped by Kevin McCallister, played by Macaulay Culkin, asking him where the lobby of the hotel is.

As reported by The Standard, Chris Columbus, the film’s director claimed that the President ‘bullied his way’ into a cameo by demanding a role in the film in exchange for the crew to film in his hotel.

However, Trump recalls things differently, claiming he ‘didn’t want to do it’ as he was ‘very busy’.

I was very busy, and didn’t want to do it. They were very nice, but above all, persistent.

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air

In 1994, Donald Trump appeared in an episode of the hit series The Fresh Prince of Bel Air with Will Smith. In the episode, Trump turns up at Will’s uncle’s house with his then-wife, Marla Maples, wanting to purchase the home, mistaking it for his childhood home. Trump’s appearance lasts only two minutes.

The family marvels at Donald’s alleged wealth, he then tries to make a deal with the family, and Carlton faints from excitement at meeting ‘The Donald’.

The Little Rascals

Again in 1994, Donald Trump cameos in the film Little Rascals. In this appearance, Trump doesn’t play himself. He plays the father of the insufferable rich kid, Waldo. His cameo is brief, Waldo phones his father rings during a children’s go-kart race and after promising to win, Trump says he’s ‘the best son money can buy’.

The Nanny

In 1996, Donald Trump was featured in The Nanny. According to Fran Drescher who played the main character, Trump gave some notes on the script.

As reported by The Standard, Fran was a guest on Seth Rogen’s podcast and explained that Trump wanted to change the line ‘You millionaires know each other’ to reflect his billionaire status. Eventually, a compromise was decided and the less specific word, ‘zillionaire’ was used instead.

Sex and the City

In 1999, the President appeared in the hit series Sex and the City. As per The Standard, he was in season two, episode eight, The Man, the Myth, the Viagra.

In the episode, Samantha is enjoying a cocktail after work and Trump appears in a booth near the bar and is checking out Kim Cattrall’s character. He also name-drops his office, Trump Tower in the show.

The voice says:

Samantha, a cosmopolitan, and Donald Trump. You just don’t get more New York than that.

The Plaza Hotel is also featured at the end of the season. It’s where the engagement party for Natasha and Big is held.

Zoolander

In 2001, Donald Trump appeared in Zoolander with his girlfriend Melania, who has since become his third wife. Their cameo is on a fashion show red carpet.

According to The Standard, this particular scene of the movie was filmed at an actual fashion awards show and the attendees were asked to improvise their lines. In his scene, Trump says:

Look, without Derek Zoolander, male modelling wouldn’t be what it is today.

Two Weeks Notice

In 2002, Donald Trump starred in Two Weeks Notice alongside Hugh Grant, who's recently opened up about being a father, and Sandra Bullock. In the film, Trump and Grant’s character have a conversation over the former’s threats to steal Grant’s new assistant.

As per The Standard, the billionaire didn’t make much of an impression on the British actor. Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Hugh Grant said:

He always wanted to be in my stuff. But the fact is, I don’t really remember him very well.

Days of our Lives

In 2005, Donald Trump made an appearance in another TV series, this time, Days of our Lives. As reported by The Standard, Trump’s cameo in the soap is ‘sleazy’ as Nicole Walker begs Trump for a job while implying she would sleep with him.

Moreover, it was during filming that a microphone recorded the President making sexual remarks about women.

WrestleMania 23

Finally, in 2007, Donald Trump appeared in the 23rd annual WrestleMania, dubbed the Battle of the Billionaires. In this special, he fought businessman Vince McMahon. Trump won the fight and got to shave his opponent’s head.

Donald Trump’s TV commercials

Not only has Donald Trump made several cameos in films and TV shows, but he has also been hired for several TV commercials for some very popular brands, from Pizza Hut to Oreo.

Pizza Hut, twice

Donald Trump has been in two Pizza Hut commercials. His first was in 1995 alongside his first wife, Ivana. Donald and Ivana divorced in 1990, but reunited five years later for the advert.

The two share a conversation in the advert and share a pizza. Toward the end of the advert, when a single slice is remaining, Ivana goes to eat it. Trump stops her and says:

Actually, you're only entitled to half.

His second Pizza Hut advert was five years later, in 2000. In the commercial, the businessman tucks into Pizza Hut's Big New Yorker Pizza.

Toshiba

Even though Donald Trump has admitted he isn’t particularly tech-savvy, that didn’t stop the businessman from appearing in an advert for Toshiba in the 90s.

In the commercial, a young boy sends an email to Trump concerning his real estate business. Trump then leaves the young boy a voice mail giving him his contact information.

Hey Doug, this is Donald Trump. Just got your email. Let me give you my direct line at Trump Towers.

As per NPR, Trump reportedly didn’t have a computer in his home or office until 2007 and didn’t use electronic mail until 2013.

McDonald’s

In 2002, Donald Trump was featured in an advert for the popular fast-food chain, McDonald’s. In the commercial, Trump seems as though he is in a business meeting discussing deals he managed. However, he admits he can’t beat the ‘Big N' Tasty for just a dollar’ deal.

Oreo

Finally, in 2009, Donald Trump did a commercial for Oreo. In the ad, Trump is debating whether or not to buy the ‘Double Stuf Racing League’.
