Naturally, several members of Trump’s immediate family were in attendance, but one member of his direct family was notably absent. So, who attended the President’s Congress speech?

President Donald Trump supported by family

As mentioned above, many Trump family members attended the President’s address to Congress. Among those present were Lara and Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, Tiffany Trump and her husband Michael Boulos, and finally, Donald Trump Jr. and his girlfriend Bettina Anderson.

You may have noticed that one Trump child was not present. Indeed, Barron Trump, 18, did not attend the Capitol to hear his father’s speech. According to Daily Mail, Barron is a freshman (first-year student) at New York University, and classes have started once again, therefore he was unable to attend.

Barron is reportedly studying business at New York University and is living in Trump Tower instead of dorm rooms. Despite Melania trying to ensure her son has a somewhat normal life, the fact that Barron’s father is president means he needs 24/7 Secret Service protection, much like his cousin, Kai Trump.

Back in December, the First Lady acknowledged that Barron likely won’t be able to be ‘a normal student’.

I don't think it's possible for him to be a normal student. His experience at college — it’s very different from any other kid.

Melania took the spotlight

Melania Trump also attended her husband’s address to Congress, even though she generally takes a step back from political duties. Indeed, she wasn’t very involved in Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

Nonetheless, the First Lady attended the event and stole the spotlight with her expensive outfit.

As reported by Daily Mail, the former model decided to wear a $5,500 dark grey Dior skirt suit with a belted jacket. She paired the outfit with a scarf and her signature stiletto heels. When Melania entered the House chamber, the whole crowd stood on their feet, giving the First Lady a standing ovation.

Melania and Donald left the White House together. When they stepped out of the building, they were holding hands in a rare show of public affection.

The 54-year-old is stepping into her role as First Lady after spending a month in New York with her only son. Indeed, Melania was on Capitol Hill on Monday as she has been pushing for a bill that makes revenge porn a federal crime.

The First Lady has also been finishing up her documentary, which will air on Amazon Prime this autumn. As per Daily Mail, Melania has been working on her private business initiatives, including her own cryptocurrency.
