Dwayne Johnson rose to fame on World Wrestling Entertainment in the 90’s. As a wrestler, he went by Rocky Maivia - a combination of his father and grandfather’s ring names. Having won 8 WWE Championship reigns, Johnson turned his focus to acting. Since then, he has become extremely well-known and enjoyed a whole lot of success in iconic films including the Fast & Furious franchise.

However, Johnson also has a lesser-known side hobby. It turns out this wrestler-come-actor is also very into breaking world records. Let’s look into the 5 Guinness World Records he has held, even though a few have gone on to be broken by someone even more determined than The Rock!
The record for the most selfies taken in three minutes
Back in 2015, The Rock decided to help promote his film San Andreas by breaking a new record: the number of selfies taken in 3 minutes. At the premiere in London, he posed with fans for 105 selfies in the allotted time.
Less surprisingly, the previous record holder for this niche feat was none other than Kim Kardashian. A Guinness World Records adjudicator was at the event to check everything was official and the pictures were of adequate quality.
The record for highest paid actor in first leading role
Some of you may remember Johnson’s very first film: The Mummy Returns. He made his silver screen debut in this masterpiece in 2001, and became a firm film favourite.
The film itself made history by becoming the highest grossing film in a single day in film history. It earned a whopping $28,594,667. The Rock was such a hit that a spin-off was created that starred Johnson as The Scorpion King. His salary for the role was record-breaking: $5.5 million.
The record for the highest paid actor full-stop
After these roles, The Rock went on to star in some more movies like Gridiron Gang, Get Smart, and The Tooth Fairy. Later came G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Jumanji and - of course - the wildly success Fast & Furious films. In 2016 he broke another record as the highest paid actor between June 1, 2015, and June 1, 2016 - during this time, he made a grand total of $64.5 m.
The record for the largest 7-layered dip
Now we get into weirder territory: in February 2017, helped by his digital studio Seven Bucks Digital Studios, The Rock prepared a 540-pound dip. The world’s largest 7-layered dip was then delivered to LA’s Midnight Mission for the homeless.
According to the Guinness World Records’ official website, it took ‘over 5 hours and 4 people’ and was made in a fish tank!
The record for the most cereal boxes toppled like dominos
This one is honestly just silly - in 2017, The Rock successfully toppled 3006 cereal boxes. Once again, he was helped by his team at Seven Bucks Digital Studios. And once again, Johnson proved he is not only a record-breaker but also a good guy: the boxes of cereal were then delivered to the homeless.
