Elon Musk might be best known for Tesla, rockets, and tweets, but it’s his expanding family that has been stealing the headlines. With a bold social media post, influencer Ashley St. Clair revealed she had a child with Musk, sending shockwaves through the internet. But this is far from a one-off story.

According to The Wall Street Journal, there are deep, strategic roots to Musk's baby-making mission. The media has now released an extensive report on his plan to populate the planet, and it includes exclusive statements from Ashely St. Clair herself.
Elon Musk, Ashley St. Clair and their son Romulus
Ashley St. Clair, a conservative social media influencer, made headlines when she publicly revealed she shares a child with Elon Musk, and she's clearly not done spilling the details of their relationship.
She revealed to WSJ that their baby, Romulus, was conceived during a trip to St. Barts, after Musk reportedly responded to St. Clair’s mention of ovulation with:
What are we waiting for?
St. Clair has shared that Musk often spoke to her about having children. The first time they were intimate, he reportedly joked they should 'pick a name' for their future baby. These conversations continued as their relationship developed.
However, when it came to the legal part of their relationship, Musk has not been her point person. Indeed, throughout the pregnancy and after Romulus' birth, his close associate and right-hand man Jared Birchall has been playing a central role. Birchall, who runs Musk's family office and manages both his finances and personal affairs, has been the intermediary between Musk and St. Clair for everything from legal discussions to financial support.
As per WSJ, Birchall coordinated the proposed financial arrangement and encouraged compliance with Musk's demands, all while emphasising Musk's desire for discretion. He warned St. Clair during a two-hour phone call that when a mother of his child goes ‘the legal route’ in these discussions, ‘that always, always leads to a worse outcome for that woman than what it would have been otherwise.’
Ashley was offered a financial package in exchange for secrecy: $15 million upfront and $100,000 monthly until the child turned 21. There were also reports that he gave Ashley St. Clair $2.5M despite not knowing if he was the father of her child.
St. Clair, however, pushed for a paternity test and more transparent terms. Eventually, the court ordered Musk to take the test, and Labcorp returned a result stating the 'Probability of Paternity' was 99.9999%.
Ashley also used this unique opportunity to reveal the demands Elon Musk had when it came to her pregnancy and child.
Musk's demands: C-Sections, silence, and secrecy
Elon Musk allegedly set strict expectations for Ashley. These include giving birth via C-section, avoiding circumcision, and keeping his paternity secret until the child turns 21.
St. Clair revealed that Musk advised her against a vaginal birth, claiming it 'limits brain size' and that C-sections allow for 'larger brains.' He also opposed circumcision, though St. Clair, being Jewish, ultimately went against his wish.
She recounted staying indoors for most of her pregnancy to avoid public attention, per Musk's instructions. During her time in the hospital, Musk's representative Birchall texted her not to list Musk on the birth certificate. St. Clair complied.
The financial support was conditional. Birchall later pushed her to sign legal documents that would ensure Musk's name remained out of public view. The agreement came with strict NDAs and conditions that could cancel support if broken. St. Clair refused to sign, citing concerns over her son's legitimacy, lack of emergency health support provisions, and the power imbalance of the agreement.
Using Ashley's testimony, WSJ goes beyond the story of a woman having the child of the notorious Elon Musk. Indeed, they shine the light on a larger narrative—this was not just about one child but potentially many.
Building a baby legion: Social media, secrecy and strategy
Musk's family ambitions, it seems, are part of a broader plan. He has spoken publicly about the dangers of declining birthrates, urging educated people to reproduce more. Musk has at least 14 children with four women, including singer Grimes and Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis. However, sources believe the actual number might be much higher.
He refers to his offspring as a 'legion,' likening them to the mighty military forces of ancient Rome. The term isn’t just metaphorical. Texts viewed by the Journal show Musk suggesting to St. Clair that they use surrogates to 'reach legion-level before the apocalypse.'
Many of these connections reportedly begin on Musk's platform X. Influencer Tiffany Fong is one such example. After posting political content supportive of Trump, Musk allegedly asked if she’d be interested in having his child. The two never met in person, and Fong turned him down which wasn't taken well by Musk.
It's clear that one would think a hundred times before getting involved with Musk, given all the expectations he has. There have been reports that Musk has tried to house his various families in a single compound—a setup that both Grimes and St. Clair reportedly rejected. Moreover, the signing of NDAs and keeping a close watch over the women seems to be a key part of Elon Musk's plans. Birchall even explained this to Ashely saying they are necessary due to previous issues with 'mentally unstable' individuals and that Musk is the 'biggest lightning rod on the entire planet.'
