Musk's daughter 'no longer wishes to be related' to Elon
Musk's daughter, who recently turned 18, the age of consent in California, petitioned the court in April 2022 to change her name and her gender identity from male to female, according to court documents available online through PlainSite.org. She explained, as quoted by Reuters:
I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.
Her new name was redacted in the online document. However, according to TMZ, she wishes her name to be registered as Vivian Jenna Wilson. Wilson is the maiden name of her mother, Justine Musk, who divorced the Tesla founder in 2008.
It is not known what caused the rift between Musk and his daughter, however, he has been accused of being transphobic before, as reported by CNBC.
Is Elon Musk transphobic?
In 2020, Musk tweeted that 'pronouns suck.' He went on to further mock gender pronouns when he tweeted the words 'when you put he/him in ur bio' alongside a picture of a soldier rubbing bloody hands on his face. After widespread criticism, he defended himself by tweeting, 'I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare.'
Additionally, in May 2022, a month after his daughter filed to change her name, Musk declared his support for the Republican Party, whose elected representatives endorse a host of legislations that would restrict transgender rights across the United States.
