Fern Britton has been on television for decades now, she used to host This Morning and just finished 5th on Celebrity Big Brother. Fern’s television career has been a success but it seems she hasn’t necessarily had the same luck when it comes to relationships.

Indeed, Fern Britton has been married twice, with her most recent relationship ending in 2020 after 20 years of marriage. Fern has had four children through both of her relationships, three from her first marriage and one from her second.
Four years after her second divorce, Fern Britton has opened up about her current mindset concerning marriage and has revealed it may no longer be on the cards for her.
Fern Britton doesn’t want to get married again
As reported by Daily Mail, Fern Britton revealed that she is currently enjoying being on her own and doesn’t want to get married again. She told the tabloid that she’s ‘a very independent’ woman and she enjoys her ‘freedom’.
I don't want to live with anyone – and I don't want to get married again. I'm a very independent person and the older I get the more I realise I like freedom.
However, she did add that if one day she meets ‘someone incredible’ she may ‘say yes’ but if she were to get involved with someone again they would have to live in separate houses and she doesn’t ‘want to have to’ clean and look after someone else.
If someone incredible came along who could put up with me, I'd say yes. It would be the icing on the cake really. But I don't want to have to be cooking and cleaning and taking care of anybody. Separate houses would do me nicely.
Whilst on Big Brother, Fern told fellow housemate, Louis Walsh, who revealed he had been diagnosed with cancer, that she doesn’t ‘want to fall in love again’.
A look into Fern Britton’s relationships
As mentioned before, Fern Britton has been married twice. Her second marriage was to Phil Vickery, who she met on the set of BBC Two’s Ready Steady Cook, as per Express. The two tied the knot in 2000 and together they welcomed a daughter, Winnie.
Fern and Phil divorced in 2020 after two decades together. According to Express, Fern and Phil ‘fell apart’ after the death of Fern’s parents.
Fern released the following statement after announcing their divorce:
After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways. We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children.
Before Phil Vickery, Fern Britton was married to Clive Jones. As per Mirror, the two met while Clive was still married and they began having an affair. A year after the affair started, Fern decided to end the relationship. However, two days later, Clive turned up to Fern’s house to announce he had left his wife.
Britton and Jones married in 1988 and had three children together, twins, Jack and Harry and a daughter, Grace. As reported by Mirror, the couple’s relationship broke down soon after the birth of their daughter and split in 1998, ten years after their wedding.
Fern and Clive officially divorced in 2000 and according to Fern, their marriage broke down after she secretly did an IQ test. She told the Walking The Dog with Emily Dean podcast:
He had this degree and I don't. I secretly went off and did the Mensa. I lied, I said I was going somewhere else, and it took a day to do this test.
Then he was furious so he did it because he's got a huge brain. But he's not a problem solver and he didn't get it. So an immense rift opened.
