Gillian has been married twice, has children and has been in several long-term relationships. Despite her active love life, Gillian Anderson has revealed that she has needs that are ‘non-negotiable’ now when it comes to relationships.
Gillian Anderson was married twice
As reported by Express, Gillian Anderson’s first marriage was to Clyde Klotz, a colleague on The X-Files. The two married on New Year’s Day in 1994 in Hawaii. On September 25, 1994, Gillian and Clyde welcomed their daughter, Piper, who is 29, at the time of writing this article.
As per Express, Gillian revealed she fell pregnant on her wedding night. Gillian and Clyde divorced in 1997. After her divorce, Gillian was linked romantically to several famous people, including British actor Adrian Hughes, and Hollywood producer Randy Stone.
In 2004, Gillian married Julian Ozanne, a Kenyan-born foreign correspondent, also in Hawaii. At first, Anderson admitted she had found Ozanne ‘obnoxious’ but soon developed feelings after continuously bumping into each other in London.
However, just 16 months after tying the knot, the two announced their divorce through a statement from their lawyer, as per Express:

Gillian Anderson was in two long-term relationships
After her marriage ended with Julian Ozanne, Gillian Anderson started dating Mark Griffiths, a British businessman. Speaking to Mirror, Anderson explained that there was no overlap between her relationship with Ozanne and her relationship with Griffiths:
The order of events was that I left my marriage and then I met Mark. I started a relationship and had a son in November 2006.
Gillian went on to have two sons with Mark, Oscar and Felix. However, 6 years later, the couple decided to go their separate ways and split in 2012.
Four years after her relationship with Mark, Gillian started an on-and-off again relationship with Peter Morgan, the creator of The Crown. The pair started dating in 2016 and revealed that they do not live together.
As per Harper Bazaar, Anderson said:
My partner and I don’t live together. If we did, that would be the end of us.
She explained that is what works best for them, in fact, she isn’t the only celebrity who doesn’t live with their partner, Miriam Margolyes is the same. Anderson revealed that she loves the feeling of missing her partner:
I start to miss the person I want to be with, which is a lovely feeling.
Gillian and Peter appeared to have split in 2020, as per Express, however, they may be rekindling their relationship as the two were spotted in April 2023 and it seemed as though they were a couple, but nothing has been confirmed.
Gillian Anderson has a list of ‘needs’
In early 2020, Gillian revealed that she had written a list of ‘needs’ after her last breakup, as recommended by someone:
Early on after the break-up of my last relationship and before my current one, somebody encouraged me to write a list of needs and wants in a future partner.
She explained that if the person she is on a date with doesn’t meet at least three of her needs they aren’t the right person. She added that these ‘needs are non-negotiable’:
If you go on a date with someone and realise they won’t meet, say, three of those needs, then they are not the person for you. It may last as a relationship, but it won’t make you happy.
