However, it hasn't all been uphill for the chef. According to The Sun, his previous pasta chain venture, My Pasta Bar, collapsed and left behind £5 million in unpaid debts. The business went under in November 2021, ultimately being dissolved in March 2024 with numerous unpaid creditors.

In 2020, he faced backlash after closing off a ‘vital’ pathway near his home in Hertfordshire. The path, which was frequently used by pensioners to reach the local doctor’s surgery, was blocked after Gino cited concerns over privacy and security.
His wife, Jessica, wrote to Broxbourne Borough Council, explaining that fans had repeatedly trespassed onto their property. She stated:
A couple of times I have had people in my garden taking pictures and there are frequent knocks on the door with people asking for pictures of Gino or signed books.
Gino defended his actions, stating that the pathway had been neglected and unsafe. He explained:
Everything is beautiful and clean. The gate is open for everybody to use. I took my time because I wanted to do it right and have it safe for everybody.
Before we used to get kids on bikes and it was dangerous for people using it, there was no proper lighting and it didn't have proper security. I took my time and did it properly.
While some residents understood his concerns, others were upset that the closure impacted elderly individuals who relied on the pathway. The gate was later modified to remain open for specific hours, allowing some level of access while maintaining security.
Holiday home in Italy
In addition to his UK residence, Gino owns a lavish holiday home in Sardinia. Known as Isla D’Acampo, this picturesque retreat is located in Telti and serves as a summer getaway for his family. The property boasts an outdoor swimming pool, a basketball court, a vineyard, and even a lake.
Gino loves Sardinia so much that he purchased the property next door to ensure complete privacy, reports Hello!. He once said in 2021:
Three years ago, the house next door to us came up for sale and I bought it, and we now have no neighbours for miles – they may as well call it Gino Mountain!
