In the post, Holly opened up about her struggles with drinking. She included how her choice to go tee-total last year came after she had reached the lowest point of her life.
Calls for a celebration
Holly disclosed in May that she spent three months in a mental health facility after being sexually attacked twice when she was 18 years old. Post the incident, she was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression. As such, she explained in her post that antidepressants and alcohol do not go well and said:
Alcohol and antidepressants do not mix well at all. And that is something, unfortunately, I learned the hard way.
As with everything I have been through, it has been a learning experience and I feel lucky to be able to post this message today, to continue to spread awareness and break the stigma surrounding mental health.
The fashion design student confessed that she has not taken the decision lightly ever since she made it and feels it was the right thing to do. She expressed her feelings and said:
This time last year I was at my lowest and I was scared but I made a decision to take control of what I could - and that meant removing alcohol from my life.
It was not an easy decision, nor one that I have taken lightly. I won't say this is forever, but this is for now. Living without alcohol has helped me feel better and more present both mentally and physically.
Proud father!
In the flood of comments that Holly received on her post, her father Gordan Ramsay made sure to let the world know that he is proud to have a daughter like her. He wrote:
@hollyramsayy what an incredible young lady and words can’t explain enough how proud you make me feel love you so much Dad
Being only 21 years old, Holly never imagined that her life would turn out the way it did. However, the second-eldest child of one of the greatest chefs in the world takes pride in her healing journey so far.
