Haley Joel Osment arrested while on holiday for 'unruly conduct’

The child star took a break from acting for several years. He returned to the industry in 2024 with a role in Blink Twice alongside Channing Tatum.

That being said, Osment has made headlines recently, but not for his acting accomplishments. The 37-year-old was arrested in early April for ‘unruly conduct’.

Haley Joel Osment arrested while on holiday

Per People, the Sixth Sense star was arrested at the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area at the Mill Base Lodge car park on April 8 after the police received a call about ‘unruly conduct’. At the time of the arrest, Osment was reportedly intoxicated and in possession of an unidentified controlled substance.

Sergeant Jason Heilman has clarified that Osment is ‘no longer in custody’.

He was booked and is no longer in custody. Public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance are the charges related to the arrest [on April 8].

At the time of writing, it hasn’t been disclosed whether Osment will face charges, as the incident is still under investigation.

According to People, this isn’t Haley’s first run-in with the law. In 2006, the actor was charged with misdemeanour drunk driving after he was injured in a car accident. At the time, Osment was 18 years old.

He pleaded no contest to one count of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of possession of a controlled substance. He was sentenced to three years of probation.

On a separate occasion in 2018, the police were called to McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas on Super Bowl Sunday after Osment was caught in a public verbal dispute.

Haley Joel Osment has kept his life somewhat private despite being a star from such a young age. However, in 2024, he sat down for an exclusive interview with E! News to discuss growing up as a child actor.

Opening up about his job, Osment revealed that his parents had explained to him that he could ‘quit tomorrow’ if he no longer found acting ‘fun’. Eventually, Haley took his parents' advice and took a break from acting after graduating from high school.

He told E! News that when he went to university, he took that time to ‘really think hard’ about what he wanted to do with his life.

And when I got to be university age, I got to go off and study theatre and really think hard about whether I wanted to do this as my career in life.

Osment explained that each time he asked himself if he wanted to continue acting, the answer has ‘always been yes’ as it is a job he ‘really enjoys’ even though it makes planning life hard.

Moreover, the child star revealed that he was glad he wasn’t living in California in the early 2000s, as it was ‘pretty tense’ due to the paparazzi.

Those were pretty tense years in terms of how celebrity was in Los Angeles. There was this very predatory, aggressive kind of tabloid engagement with certain celebrities.
