What *really* happened
The viral video, which has been watched close to 15 million times on Twitter, shows Harry Styles spitting (or something along those lines, motion-wise) on his Don’t Worry Darling co-star Chris Pine’s lap as he was occupying the seat next to him as Olivia Wilde watched on from the other side of Chris' chair.
In the footage, based on what fans have speculated online, Harry Styles could be seen dropping a little bubble of spit on Chris Pine’s lap at the Venice Film Festival where their movie premiered on Monday.
Chris Pine clears the air
After all the drama attached to the video in question, and some more over the months that have been haunting the film anyway, Chris Pine's representative has refuted this speculation. In simple terms, the rep called it a 'ridiculous story' and that Harry Styles 'did not' spit on Chris Pine at all.
The rep also went on to explain that the bond these two co-stars share is one of mutual 'respect' and nothing else, further elaborating to Variety:
'This is a ridiculous story -- a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation. Just to be clear, Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine. There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist.'
When the story first broke, and quickly went viral, even Twitter users were divided on what had actually transpired between the two. With one saying they 'cannot sleep' and another calling it 'ridiculous'.
Former One Direction member-turned-solo-musician-turned-actor Harry Styles, who is doing his second feature film Don't Worry Darlings, is yet to comment on the issue.
