Hillary Clinton graced this year’s Met Gala red carpet after 20 years of not attending. During a short interview with Vogue, the former 2016 US presidential candidate revealed why she doesn’t attend very often.

Every 20 years
During her interview with Vogue, Hillary Clinton joked that she would only attend the Met Gala every 20 years. She seems to be doing just that as the last time she attended was back in 2001. She said:
I’ve told Anna that I would come about twenty years, and I’m thrilled to be here this year
She also talked about how pleased she was to be attending the Met Gala again to support the museum and ‘celebrating America’. She told Vogue:
Well I think we’re all happy to be back together, supporting the museum and the costume institute. And also celebrating America. Not just the fashion of America, but really the spirit of America
A dress paying tribute
Hillary Clinton attend the Met Gala in a gorgeous silk maroon dress which had a meaningful detail. Along the hems of her dress were embroidered the names of women who have inspired the US politician. Some of the names include Abigail Adams, Sacajawea, Harriet Tubman, Eleanore Roosevelt, Shelly Chisholm, and Madame Albright.
Her dress was designed by the young French designer Joseph Altuzarra. Clinton told Vogue:
We decided to stick with women who were no longer with us because that would have made it impossible to have even one dress if I had everyone on it that I admired…
