Holly Willoughby was the face of ITV’s This Morning alongside her former co-host Phillip Schofield. The latter stepped down back in March after it was revealed he had an affair with a much younger male colleague.

At the time of the scandal, Holly Willoughby distanced herself from Phillip Schofield and expressed that she had no idea that the affair was taking place. Holly then took a break from This Morning, but she returned a few weeks later.
Holly has now announced that she is permanently leaving This Morning in an Instagram post.
Holly Willoughby steps down from This Morning after 14 years
Holly Willoughby posted a statement on her Instagram page at 5 pm BST explaining that she is stepping down as host of the long-running show This Morning. Holly has been the host of ITV’s This Morning for 14 years.
She revealed to social media that she ‘I will not be returning to This Morning’ and that she thanks ‘everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years.’ She also added that she had to make this decision for her family.
It's been an honour to just be part of its story and I know this story has many chapters left to go. Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family.
Naturally, Holly also thanked all of the viewers of the show and expressed that ‘this is such a difficult goodbye’.
Holly Willoughby receives messages of support
As would be expected, Holly Willoughby’s Instagram post was flooded with messages of love and support for the now-former This Morning host. One Instagram user writes that the media has been pushing Willoughby to quit after months of hate:
This is what the press have been pushing for with the constant hate over the last couple of months, hope they’re happy. End of an era!
