As Alan Halsall entered the cast of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! on 17 November 2024, the speculation only got stronger, forcing Lucy-Jo Hudson to respond to the allegations.
Before that, let's take a look at what happened between the couple.
Alan Halsall's bitter break-up with Lucy-Jo Hudson
After meeting on the set of Coronation Street back in 2002, the pair got together two years later. They eventually got married in 2009, and welcomed a daughter together, Sienna-Rae, in 2013. Alan Halsall has always been open about the downfall of his marriage with Lucy-Jo Hudson. The couple first split up in 2016, but they quickly reconciled, and they stayed together for another two years before calling it quits for good.
The actress made her relationship public with Lewis Devine only a couple weeks after the divorce, which did not go down well with Alan Halsall. He even publicly shamed her after the birth of her son, who was born from her relationship with Lewis Devine, accusing his ex-wife of cheating. He wrote on Instagram:
You’re welcome to keep the lying cheating one and call her your own! But not my daughter.
Lucy-Jo Hudson was quick to brush off her ex-husband's accusations, telling OK! Magazine:
I had literally just given birth to Carter when he posted that so I didn’t see it and my head was elsewhere. He quickly deleted it so he must have regretted it. I didn’t bother bringing it up with him.
The actress also explained how difficult it can be to co-parent a child when you haven't got a good relationship with the other parent. She spoke to OK! Magazine, saying:
The thing is, everybody who has a blended family knows it’s not easy. You can’t pretend that it is. And me and Alan sometimes have different views on raising Sienna so trying to co-parent can be challenging. It’s probably like that for a lot of blended families.
Alan Halsall also talked about co-parenting Sienna-Rae with his ex-wife Lucy-Jo Hudson back in 2020, talking to OK! Magazine:
So long as Sienna comes first in all of it, that's all that matters. Sienna's got her mum and dad, and she's also got Lewis and Tisha. It's just a case that everybody loves her.
We don't have a great deal of communication, it's only ever about Sienna and that's all it ever needs to be.
Lucy-Jo Hudson responds to rumours she cut ties with ex-boyfriend
Given their history, when Alan Halsall joined the cast of I'm A Celeb on 17 November 2024, rumours started going around that Lucy-Jo Hudson would vote for her ex-husband to go through the Bushtucker Trials. During this trial, contestants must complete a grueling task in order to win a full meal.
A source added to the drama when they told The Sun that the pair was not on speaking terms anymore, claiming:
Alan and Lucy-Jo still aren’t on speaking terms. If Alan needs anything he goes through her boyfriend Lewis. They both want what’s best for their daughter Sienna but they won’t communicate. Things are just as bad as when they first fell out.
However, the actress has responded to the allegations on her Instagram account. She denied there was any truth to the rumour, saying:
I just wanted to put the record straight. First of all, me and my ex have been divorced seven years. I actually can't believe it's a topic of conversation, because it's pretty boring now.
Lucy-Jo Hudson added that the former couple 'share Sienna 50/50' in order to give their daughter the best life possible. She said:
We don't want her missing out, so we change things for each other.
The actress claimed she would be watching her ex-husband's journey on the reality TV show alongside her partner, Lewis Devine, and her daughter.
Second of all, myself and Lewis will be sat down with Sienna watching the jungle. We wish him nothing but the best.
Lucy-Jo Hudson and her partner will be doing everything they can to support her daughter, as she will be away from her father for a few weeks at least. She concluded by saying:
We are going to be there for Sienna supporting her through this journey – cause, yes, she's going to miss her dad. He's in her life all the time, so this is quite a strange thing. He is who he is to you guys, but for Sienna, it's her dad, and we're supporting her through that.
Alan Halsall's love life
The 42-year-old actor has been a single father for the past seven years, but he did find love in his life after his split from Lucy-Jo Hudson.
Indeed, following his bitter divorce in 2018, Alan Halsall moved on with Coronation Street co-star Tisha Merry. While they met on set in 2014, the couple did not get together until 2019, when the actress left the show.
The actors moved in together, and they were in a relationship for five years before going on their separate ways earlier this year. In February 2024, a source told the Daily Mail that Alan Halsall and Tisha Merry were very good for each other in the beginning of their relationship, as they had similar interests. They explained:
Alan and Tisha had a lot of love for each other and had really similar interests, enjoying socialising and going on holiday together.
The source explained that the break-up was rather peaceful, as the pair slowly drifted apart. They said:
But they started to drift apart and feel the pressure of making their relationship work get on top of them. They realised they weren't on the same page and splitting up felt like the best option.
Since his break up, Alan Halsall seems to be living a single life as he has not been publicly seen with any love interest.
