Sam Thompson rose to fame through the reality TV show, Made in Chelsea and since then, he has been on Celebrity Big Brother and has his own radio show on Hits Radio. The 31-year-old has been in a relationship with Zara McDermott since 2019. Zara McDermott is also famous in her own right and the couple hasn’t had the easiest relationships.
Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott have been dating since 2019
As mentioned above, SamThompson and Zara McDermott, whose net worth has been revealed, have been in a relationship since 2019. Zara had initiated the relationship by sending Sam a message in early 2019, not long after the two had ended their prior relationships.
The two then confirmed their relationship in May 2019, as per Metro. Soon after the relationship was made public, Zara appeared alongside Sam on E4’s Made in Chelsea.
However, the two lovebirds hit a bump in 2020 after McDermott admitted she had cheated on Thompson while she was on X Factor: Celebrity. Zara owned up to the cheating in an Instagram post, where she apologised. She also mentioned the cheating in an episode of Made in Chelsea in October 2020.
Sam and Zara broke up for a while, but eventually reconciled and began dating again in December 2020. In 2021, the couple moved in together in Chelsea, living next door to Sam’s sister, Louise Thompson.
Sam revealed he was concerned that he had also made a mistake by entering the I’m a Celeb jungle as Zara was doing Strictly at the same time. On his radio show, Sam admitted he thought he was a ‘bad boyfriend’:
When they asked [me to go into the jungle] I did think, if Zara was still on Strictly would I be a bad boyfriend if I went – but then decided I had to!’
As he was hoping Zara would make it further on the show, he asked his best friend Pete Wicks to go with him to Australia:
Because I thought she would still be doing Strictly, Pete’s coming with me! I don’t know if I’m going to have a girlfriend at the end of it…
Who is Zara McDermott?
Zara McDermott was born on December 14, 1996. She rose to fame in 2018 after appearing on ITV 2’s dating show, Love Island. She had been dating Celebs Go Dating star, Adam Collard, before getting with Sam Thompson, as per Metro.
Before entering the Love Island villa, Zara McDermott was a government advisor from Essex. After Love Island, Zara made several appearances on Made in Chelsea and participated in The X Factor: Celebrity. This year, she was a contestant on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing but was sadly knocked on on Halloween week.
Zara decided to stop reality TV and instead, she is now focusing on a presenter career and has fronted several documentaries, as per Heat World. In March 2020, the former Love Island star revealed she would be filming a revenge porn documentary for BBC Three and would share her own experience as a victim of this crime.

In 2021, Zara released another documentary with BBC Three on sexism and rape culture in UK schools. Speaking on her second documentary, Zara said, as per Heat World:
After the success of my Revenge Porn documentary, I am both honoured and thrilled to be making my second documentary with BBC Three. I was, and still am, incredibly overwhelmed by the response so far and to be working on another powerful, emotive, educational and eye-opening film is going to be a fantastic next step.
