Noel has had a rocky relationship with Liam for the past few years. However, he’s not the only one. Sharp-tongued remarks and public fallouts have been a frequent part of his career. With the reunion so close, Noel is making headlines again as his long-standing feuds are reignited.
Two of Noel’s most prominent critics, James Blunt and Robbie Williams, have recently renewed their own feuds with him. Here’s what’s happening!
James Blunt calls Noel Gallagher ‘two-faced’
In recent reports, the You’re Beautiful singer has slammed Noel for being ‘two-faced’. According to MailOnline, the two singers were neighbours in Ibiza. The feud started in 2006 when Noel lashed out at James for buying a house near his Ibiza home.
At that time, the 57-year-old announced that he would sell his holiday house, claiming he didn’t want to live next to James while he made ‘terrible music’.
James has now revealed that Noel is indeed selling his home because he couldn’t bear his ‘sh*tty songs’. Speaking on the How to Fail podcast with Elizabeth Day, James said:
I bumped into Noel Gallagher the other day. He'd said he was leaving Ibiza and selling up his house because he couldn't handle me writing my sh*tty songs down the road from him, house prices subsequently went up after he’s left.
James then emphasised that Noel is sweet to him in person, but things change in public. He added:
Whenever I see him, he's really sweet to my face. I think everyone's sweet to each other's faces. It's just with the courage of a microphone and a journalist and trying to show off a little, they'll do something different.
He previously also called out the singer for being ‘two-faced’, saying:
To your face he’s a coward.
Is Noel Gallagher a bully?
Not just James, but Robbie Williams has also repeatedly claimed that the Gallagher brothers, particularly Noel, are bullies, according to MailOnline. In 2022, during a candid interview with Zane Lowe on his Apple Music 1 show, Robbie admitted that he was a big fan of Oasis’s music but severely disliked them for being bullies. He said:
They were gigantic bullies too, to the whole industry, everybody in it. And I didn't like that. And a lot of that still remains inside me. They're probably different people now but there's a lot of me that's like, "They're f**king bullies, them. I don't like bullies.”
Their feud stretches back to the early 2000s, when Noel infamously called Robbie ‘that fat dancer from Take That’ during the Brit Awards. Robbie responded to Noel’s jibe by challenging Liam to a boxing match at the same Brit Awards.
Robbie’s rivalry with the Gallaghers intensified as both his solo career and Oasis's popularity grew. After the Brit Awards fallout, Robbie sold out three consecutive nights at Knebworth Park in 2003, beating Oasis’s two-night record set in 1996, according to The Standard. He took the opportunity to rub his success in Noel’s face. Over the years, the feud has cooled down somewhat, but Robbie still appears to dislike them for being ‘bullies’.
