Jeremy Clarkson makes about £3 million a year

According to Express, Jeremy Clarkson had a staggering net worth of £55 million in 2023. In 2024, he was hit with bad news regarding his Diddly Squat Farm, after he lost several new piglets, and he received a closure notice from the local council. However, his dire circumstances seem to have been balanced by his job on ITV's Who Wants to be a Millionaire?. Indeed, the host is said to have increased his annual salary up to £3 million thanks to the show. He also reportedly sold his shares from the production company Bedder 6, who owns the rights for Top Gear.

Jeremy Clarkson's appearances on The Grand Tour are said to earn him about £10 million each year. The host has explained he makes virtually no money from his farm, with his earnings estimated at £114 in his first year. He also owns several very expensive cars, such as a Ferrari, a Lamborghini, a Mercedes and a McLaren, which are estimated at £550k.

Why did he take over Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

In 2014, Chris Tarrant surprised fans when he announced he was leaving his job as host of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? after fourteen years. In an official statement, he explained:

It's been a huge part of my life for fifteen years and I've loved every minute of it, but it is time for me to move on from Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?. It's been the most remarkable journey and I consider myself very fortunate to have been associated with Millionaire from its inception.

Right after leaving the show, Chris Tarrant had a massive health scare, which reportedly changed his outlook on life. While he was hosting Chris Tarrant: Extreme Railways for Channel 5, the TV presenter thought he suffered from a terrifying stroke while he was almost 40ft in the air. After being rushed to the hospital, doctors found a potentially fatal blood clot in his leg, and they removed it before it could cause a real stroke. Since then, he has been involved with the British Stroke Association, and he says he looks after his health more seriously now. Four years after Chris Tarrant retired from Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, ITV announced Jeremy Clarkson would be taking over.
