Joan Collins has been married five times
The 91-year-old star has been married several times over the years, and always to famous Hollywood stars or music moguls. In her memoir, entitled The World According to Joan, published in 2011, Dame Joan Collins explained her rollercoaster of a love life:
I kissed a lot of frogs before I found my prince. For those women who are looking for a life partner, that old saying that men are like buses and 'if you wait long enough the right one will come along' is true for a reason.
Maxwell Reed
Dame Joan Collins' first husband was actor Maxwell Reed. The Northern Irish actor rose to fame in the 1940s and 50s. The pair met when she was only seventeen, and the actor proposed after a few months of dating. However, they got divorced after four years, and Collins described their union as unhappy and controlling, especially since he had assaulted her on their very first date.
Anthony Newley
In 1963, Dame Joan Collins married English actor and singer-songwriter Anthony Newley. He famously wrote Feeling Good, the song that made Nina Simone a legend, and the soundtrack for Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. The couple welcomed two children together, Tara and Alexander. Six years later, they got divorced after Newley reportedly cheated on the actress with several women.
Ronald S. Kass
Dame Joan Collins' third husband was American businessman Ronald S. Kass, who was The Beatles' manager. They were married for three years, and welcomed a daughter together, Katyana.
Peter Holm
In 1985, she married pop singer Peter Holm, whom she later described as 'a mixture of obdurate dullard and calculating sociopath'. They got divorced two years later after she found him in bed with another woman.
After four marriages, Collins finally found her prince with an 'honourable' man.
She settled with someone 39 years younger
Dame Joan Collins has been sharing her life with theatre manager and film producer Percy Gibson for the past 24 years. The pair in 2000 when Collins was acting in a play directed by Gibson, and they got married in 2002. She told the Mail Online:
Percy is the most honorable man I've ever met. He's so much his own person and extremely secure in his own skin.
Dame Joan Collins describes her fifth marriage as the happiest she has ever been, and she considers Gibson as her 'soul mate'. Despite their age difference, the couple is still going strong, and the actress explained it has never been a problem for them. She explained to The Guardian in 2013:
I was in my 60s and he was in his 30s [when we met], but the age difference never posed a problem.
We talked it through and he didn't want children. He adores my children and grandchildren. We've been married for 11 years, but when I look at him across a room, my heart still skips.
