The singer also allegedly made some sexist and alarming comments backin a 2019 David Letterman interview, which resurfaced recently. This time around, it was targeted at Rihanna, as Kanye apparently had some objectionable opinions about the domestic abuse the Diamonds signer underwent.
Rihanna a victim of domestic abuse
In a tragic incident that happened a couple of years ago, Rihanna was a victim of domestic abuse. Rihanna, who is a survivor of abuse at the hands of Chris Brown, was the topic of discussion that day.
Brown had pled guilty to his violent attack on his then-girlfriend Rihanna. So, there is no ambiguity or speculation regarding the attack whatsoever. However, West allegedly blamed Rihanna for her own domestic abuse in the presence of an audience and crew members, according to a report by The Wrap.
Kanye’s comments on Rihanna’s abuse
Audiences were flabbergasted at West's alleged comments on Rihanna’s domestic abuse. As per the accounts of audience members Noah Reich and David Maldonado to The Wrap, West supposedly complained that:
Chris Brown’s career is basically over and you have Rihanna and everyone took her side. She must have done something to merit what happened to her.
He apparently went on to complain about the #MeToo movement and expressed his displeasure as his unnamed music producer friend got ‘MeToo-ed’. He further added that it could happen to him as well.
West allegedly also mentioned Nazis and it is believed he referred to Jewish people in a negative light. These comments didn’t make it to the show as it was heavily edited to fit a 55-minute duration. In fact, this problematic content of the interview is rumored to have not even made it to the first cut.
The Wrap has not been able to independently verify West's comments.
