Unlike mostfeuds hip-hop stars indulge in, this one was relatively civil. The two artists were battling to see who would top the charts and make more sales with their new albums.
Kanye West vs. 50 Cent
50 Cent was all set to release his album Curtis, while West was all geared up to drop Graduation in 2007. This was the time when there was an ‘empty seat’ in the world of hip-hop waiting to be claimed. Both the artists, despite exploring contrasting styles, had one thing in common - the drive to fill that seat.
As per Billboard, the two rappers held a stare-down at the 2007 VMAs and indulged in some trash-talking.
The ultimate showdown results
West took the crown hands-down, as Graduation did immensely well on the Billboards, even claiming the number one spot. He exceeded 50 Cent in terms of sales, the number of Hot 100 hits, and on-demand streams. All in all, Ye seemed to have crushed 50 Cent in this battle.
50 Cent’s current stance on Ye
Cut to today, and the two rappers don’t seem to fall on the same page when it comes to anything. Recently, 50 Cent had a couple of words to say to West, who is being ‘cancelled’ by the world for his anti-semitic comments.
In an Instagram post that was deleted, 50 Cent allegedly said that West has to try ‘shutting the fuck up’, as per HuffPost. He also said:
People are really hurt by this shit. I have seen people in this position because of thing they have did not things they have said.
He further suggested that the ‘Praise God’ singer better cool off.
