Kate Garraway’s father rushed to hospital after collapsing

The Good Morning Britain presenter is back to her hospital duties. The Sun reported that Kate Garraway’s father Gordon suffered a suspected stroke and heart attack. The 57-year-old is said to have rushed out of work minutes after Good Morning Britain wrapped on Tuesday (July 16) upon being told her father had collapsed.

Kate is by her mother’s side in Cornwall as her beloved dad was found unconscious and ‘immediately taken to hospital.’ A source told the publication:

Kate rushed to be by his and her mum’s side minutes after GMB finished on air. It seems likely that he’s had a stroke and possibly a heart attack as well - doctors are still doing tests.

Kate’s father is still in hospital and is currently stable but the entire incident has ‘given the whole family a terrible scare and they are praying he can recover.’ The source added:

Luckily Kate is due to be off work for a few weeks anyway so she can divide her time between the hospital whilst simultaneously looking after Darcey and Billy.
After the horrible, heartbreaking year they have had, it's so important to Kate that they try and have a normal summer break. It’s a very stressful time for the whole family but as ever Kate is doing her best to look after everyone.

She has not released a statement about her family on her social media accounts since attending Wimbledon with her daughter earlier this month. This week, she was replaced by ITV presenters Ranvir Singh and Charlotte Hawkins.

Kate Garraway’s eye infection

This comes after Kate looked a bit emotional on Good Morning Britain earlier this month as she shared her health update, reports Digital Spy. Kate had red eyes due to an infection after the weekend England lost in Euros 2024. Addressing the issue, she said:

We know not everybody is a footy fan… by the way, if I'm looking a bit emotional this morning, it's partly the football, it's also that I've got a rabid eye infection.
So I'm wearing my rose-tinted spectacles, so I can see everybody!

Garraway's co-host Adil Ray joked that it could be because of England’s loss at the Euros, to which she quipped:

There's an element of that too!
