Why did Katie Price not attend her bankruptcy hearing?
Katie was declared bankrupt for a second time after failing to pay over £750,000 in unpaid tax. She had been due to give evidence about her finances at the High Court last week (end week of April 2024), but her lawyers said she couldn’t attend the meeting due to ‘health issues.’ However, it was later revealed that she was on vacation with her boyfriend JJ.
The excuse used to justify her abence at the hearing was labelled ‘scanty’ by the judge and she has been issued a warning that any further non-attendance could put her behind bars. However, the mother-of-five has hit back at the backlash and now claims she wasn’t ‘mentally strong enough’ to appear in court, confirms MailOnline.
Talking to her sister Sophie, who once accused her of almost killing someone in a drink-and-drive car crash, Katie addressed the issue and said:
The court knew that I wasn't going to my bankruptcy, because mentally - my consultant at The Priory - I've been signed off for any kind of activity for court.
I'm mentally not strong enough at the moment to stand in court, be cross examined in front of the media and public.
Katie added she needed ‘a break’ at the moment so she went on a ‘very cheap’ holiday with JJ. She also says she has a letter from her trustees that excuse her from attending the next hearing. She added:
There is another court hearing and I won't be going to that either. I want everyone to know I've had a letter from my trustees.
Katie’s new project with Kerry Katona
Katie insisted that she’s taking her bankruptcy - that she blames on her exes - ‘seriously’ and working very hard to come out of the situation. In a bid to earn more money, she has recently signed up for a new project with long-term friend Kerry Katona.
The former model is set to appear in a new panto - Cinderella - with Kerry, reports The Sun. The two will be playing the role of the two ugly step-sisters. Revealing details about the job, Katie confirmed that Kerry got her this project as she had been working with the Panto for six years. The two have known each other for over 20 years and are looking forward to having fun working on the project together. She continued:
So we know each other well and we can have innuendos and stuff on stage and little digs so it will be good to do that this year with her.
