Amidst her ongoing ordeal and tragic life, Amy Price - Katie’s mum- has revealed that she tried to take her own life many times.
Katie’s Car Crash
According to The Sun, Amy thinks that Katie’s infamous drink and driving case where her BMW flipped was potentially a suicide attempt by the model. The car crash that happened in September 2021 - the year when her divorce from Kieran Hayler was finalised - left Amy thinking about the worst-case scenarios.
She revealed:
I’d feared it would reach that point one day.
After all the years of failed relationships, betrayals by friends, duplicitous managers, and the painful loneliness she had experienced all her life. It had all come to a head.
We seriously thought about sectioning Kate under the Mental Health Act, but I just couldn’t do that to my own daughter.
This comes as Amy recalls Katie’s first word after apologising for the car crash were how was she still alive. Amy said:
Kate began by apologising and then said, ‘I don’t want to be here. How am I still alive, Mum? I just don’t want to be here.’
Thankfully, a decent man had stopped his car to help her and I could hear him in the background telling her, ‘You’ve got five kids. You’ve got everything to live for’.
However, she added:
But I knew Kate — who was caught up in yet another toxic relationship — thought otherwise.

Katie Price’s suicide attempts
After the horrific car crash, Katie’s stepdad - Paul - took her from the police station to The Priory. Amy confirmed Katie tried to take her own life a second time there by slashing her wrists. Amy also reveals many of Katie’s other suicide attempts in her new book The Last Word. The ‘deeply worrying suicide attempts’ started after her split from pop star Dane Bowers.
Katie is currently in therapy as she tries to get her life back on track and is being assessed for ADHD. However, Amy thinks Katie is just someone who ‘wants to be loved and happy.’ Amy has also taken a dig at all of Katie’s failed romances in the past and claimed that most of these men used Katie for benefitting their careers and lives.
