'She's not a great host'
In an interview with YouTuber, Murad Merali, Finni explained that she thought Whitmore only got the job because of her personal ties with narrator of the show, Iain Stirling. Whitmore has been hosting Love Island since 2020 after the tragic passing of former host, Caroline Flack. During the interview, the 29-year-old former Islander did not shy away from criticising Whitmore's apparent below average hosting capabilities. She said:
I'm kind of gutted Laura Whitmore is hosting it though, I thought we'd get a Maya Jama or AJ Odudu. The benefits you get from being married to the narrator, ‘cause she’s not a great host.
Laura Whitmore's response
Taking to Instagram, the blonde beauty explained that comments like those do not faze her as she is secure in who she is. The host of the match making show also went on to say that she thought it was unfortunate when women pinned themselves against each other instead of lifting themselves up. In stories posted on the social media platform, she said:
I’m not going to give too much energy to it because there's always stuff like this and you kind of just brush it off but I think we need to be careful when we discuss women and their work.I've worked in telly for 14 years. I won a competition to be the face of MTV and have stayed working from job to job.
Before adding:
I’ve done incredible things all over the world, I’ve worked with the best teams, but I've never got a job because of a guy I dated. And it's horrible when you see if coming from other women because for so many years women have talked about who they are going out with.
