Lily Allen confesses she’s struggling with her mental health
In recent years, celebrities have been more open about their mental health struggles, and on a recent episode of Miss Me?Lily revealed she has also not been doing well. In fact, it's gotten to a point where she hasn’t been eating. The 39-year-old shared that she has had a ‘tough’ time in the past few months and is in therapy, reports Metro.co.uk. She admitted:
I’ve been going through a tough time over the last few months and my eating has become a real issue. I’m really not in a great place mentally at the moment, and I’m not eating.
She further explained that she feels a ‘disconnection’ between her mind and body which makes it difficult for her to recognise hunger. She said:
I’m not hungry. I obviously am hungry, but my body and brain are so disconnected from each other that my body… the messages of hunger are not going from my body to my brain.
I’m not avoiding food, I’m just not thinking about it because I’m so in my head. My body’s, like, a few steps behind me.
This isn’t the first time Lily has struggled with disordered eating, reports People Magazine. She previously opened up about her battle with bulimiain 2011 during a particularly dark phase of her life. Lily’s personal life has also played a significant role in shaping her current struggles. She now lives in New York with her husband, Stranger Things actor David Harbour, and her two daughters—Ethel, 13, and Marnie, 11— which she said she had for 'all the wrong reasons.'
She revealed she became a mother in hopes to experience 'unconditional love' she missed during her childhood.
