Play cupid
ITV2 bosses have decided to shake things up a little this season and so, instead of the girls picking up the guys they want – the public will do it for them. Yes, the girls were as blindsided as we are. When host Laura Whitmore revealed the first twist of the series, it took them by shock and surprise. Laura told the girls in the villa:
You thought you'd all be stepping forward for the boys that you fancy the most.
However, for the first time, we asked the public to play Cupid instead and pick the boy they thought each of you should couple up with.
After informing the girls they do not have any say in the matter, the contestants were paired up with each other. And while one would think that’ll be the end of twists, the OGs of love came up with more. Laura also introduced the Italian Stallion – Davide Sanclimenti as the first bombshell of the season early in the series.
Voted for it!
The twist comes after Voiceover man Iain Stirling revealed earlier last week that the British Public will play cupid this time. He told Christine Lampard the news on Lorraine’s show on June 3. He appeared live from the villa in Majorca and told the host:
I'm never given any information ever but I'm coming at you now with a big fat exclusive.
This year, for the first year ever, we want you guys at home to play cupid. You will have your say on which boy couples up with which girl.
The public had a chance to vote for their favourite two people together through the Love Island app. The poll was live for approximately 24 hours and love island fans picked their favourites to pair up together.
