'It made my experience s**t'
During an interview on the YouTube series, Reality with Will Njobvu, Lambert suggested that O'Neill has been given a good edit by producers despite having clashed a lot with several cast mates. The model went on to explain that things got so bad that he feels that O'Neill flat out ruined his entire experience. He said:
There was a lot of stuff that wasn't aired–a lot of stuff going on. So basically me and Jacques got into quite a lot of arguments and it just made my experience s***t. It ruined it for me. People were saying, It's because he's got a rugby persona–but you can't treat people like that.
Before adding that at times he would even mock and mimic the way Lambert spoke:
He was just trying to get onto me. 'Hi I'm Remi, I'm hard and I'm from Manny', it was just so jarring. I was the only one to stick up for myself. We just got into a lot of fights and stuff.
An overwhelmed mother
As a result of this revelation, O'Neill's mother, Janet Wright, has taken to her personal social media to ask fans of the show to stop sending 'nasty messages' about her son to her.
The negative backlash on social media is now believed to be directly caused by the apparent bullying he subjected fellow islanders to. In a post on her instagram page, she shared a picture of the two together with the caption reading:
People sending nasty messages to me please can you stop. It does hurt. Thank you.
