Talking about her upcoming exciting summer in Mallorca, Ruchee revealed she was scouted two years ago by ITV but refused to do the show. Here’s why!
Summer Love Island’s Ruchee Gurung turned down the show once
According to OK! Magazine, Ruchee previously turned down ITV2’s dating reality show in 2021. The new Islander explained she did so because she felt she was too ‘young’ to be on the show and was starting to get to know a guy she really liked.
Hinting that she’s a total ‘hopeless romantic’, Ruchee revealed:
I was scouted through Instagram. And actually, they reached out to me a couple of years ago as well, I think it was 2021, they reached out to me for the winter one.
And at the time, I was actually kind of seeing someone and I was getting to know him. And I really liked him.
And I also felt like I was really young. So I just didn't feel comfortable. I just didn't think it was the right time. Although my friends were all like: 'Are you crazy? Like you're not gonna go on it because you're getting to know this guy!'
But I just didn't feel like it was the right time.
Explaining that she has grown up in the last two years and has her ‘sh*t together,’ she decided to grab the opportunity this time. Ruchee added:
They [show bosses] reached out to me again, a couple of months ago.
I was like: 'You know what, this is a sign, this is the second time. I'm single, I'm grown, I'm 24. I've got my s**t together. Let me just try it and apply for it.' So yeah, I did it and now I'm here!

Ruchee Gurung reveals what she’ll do on the Love Island
Ruchee is ‘excited’ and ‘proud’ to be a part of the show and represent the Asian community. However, she has got strict instructions from her mother regarding one aspect of the show. The beautician confirmed that her mother has warned her against having sex on TV, reported Daily Star.
She said:
My mum literally was like ‘do whatever you want, just go there, have a good experience, but don’t have sex on TV', and I was like ‘Mum I’m not going to, don’t worry about it!.
