An international all-star edition?

Much like is the case on other popular hit reality TV competitions, such as the RuPaul's Drag Race, Super Shore and Too Hot To Handle franchises, our very own Love Island might be following suit.

With trademarking what could potentially be the name of the show, speculation of which contestants from the UK and other international versions might participate in the all-star edition is flooding social media. At the moment, Love Island is franchised in 21 countries with versions having come out everywhere from Australia, to Canada.

Other international editions of the show include:

  • Czech Republic
  • Slovakia
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • France
  • Belgium
  • Germany
  • Hungary
  • Italy
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Spain
  • South Africa
  • Sweden
  • USA

And if that wasn't enough contestants to potentially choose from, versions are also set to be introduced in Romania, Nigeria and New Zealand in the coming years.

What have ITV bosses confirmed?

As it stands currently, nothing is set in stone and their reasoning behind trademarking 'Love Island World' is said to be for further marketing and branding purposes. This would include, allowing use of the name for filming, advertising, marketing and other forms of entertainment including video games. This would also extend to branding clothing, footwear and other random objects such as the now infamous water bottles.
