When the 19-year-oldGemma Owen was revealed as one of the contestants for this year’s Love Island, many viewers questioned her existence on the show. Considering she is young and has all her life ahead of her, she didn’t need to find love on the show and well they may be right about that.

Love’s not on the list
According to The Sun, Gemma Owen didn’t exactly go to Love Island to find love. Instead, the teenage dressage went on to the show because she couldn’t qualify for this year’s European dressagechampionships. So why waste the summer?
Gemma has reportedly revealed that she wanted to land new work opportunities from the show. She confessed:
There can be a stigma when you do a show like Love Island.
But there are amazing opportunities too if you can just be yourself.
I wanted to do it, but only if I could just be me: plain-spoken and real. I am good at not showing my feelings if I have to.
New show on the way
Ever since her split from Love Island boyfriend Luca Bish, Gemma has been in talks of having her own Kardashian-styleshow with her father Michael Owen. The show would film Owens at home and will most likely follow the teenager as she trains for the international dressage competition. She said:
I got to watch up close how my dad handled things when football finished.
Normal and grounded is good. Success can quickly change or fade. Family, friends and, for me, horses, are forever.
Having succeeded in her motive to get more work from the show, a source claimed:
Love Island has opened so many doors for Gemma and she doesn’t regret going on.
Not least because she met Luca who she had an amazing few months with and who she made memories with that she will always cherish.
