Love Island Series 10 saw Jess Harding and Sammy Root take home the £50k prize. The two appeared to be very much in love despite their highs and lows during the show. Love Island’s Jess dumps Sammy as he’s left ‘blindsided’
After news broke yesterday that Jess and Sammy have parted waysas Jess feels ‘they’re better off as friends,’ Sammy was left ‘blindsided.’ The 22-year-old aesthetic practitioner from London was quick to remove her pictures with Sammy from her pinned Instagram posts and even deleted the story highlight dedicated to Sammy.
Seeing her social media actions, Sammy went on to his Instagram and publicly shared how he felt about the breakup. Writing on his Instagram story, Sammy shared:
Hi guys, I thought I would come online to address today’s news about me and Jess.
Yes we had a private conversation regarding our relationship but that was left up in the air as Jess is still away and we haven’t had a chance to speak in person. For me to then see today via media that we have officially broken up came as a total shock.
To be totally clear - I at least wanted a face to face conversation to see if our relationship could be saved and felt this would be the respectful way forward.
He added:
I was committed and respectful to our relationship. Unfortunately things don’t always work out the way you’d hoped.
He finished the note saying ‘Jess is an amazing woman’ and he wishes her all the best. Meanwhile, Jess has remained tight-lipped on the breakup and not posted anything since.
Amidst this, a source close to the couple told The Sun:
Sammy feels blindsided by the entire situation.
He hasn't had any time to process Jess' decision privately and she didn't even give him the respect to speak face-to-face about her decision to end the relationship.
Sammy was absolutely under the impression they could work things out once seeing each other in person again.
He is completely gutted about the split.
