It seems the First Lady is now working on a new project, and it involves Amazon Prime. Here's what you should know.

Melania Trump is working on a new Prime documentary

According to the BBC, the Amazon Prime Video platform is getting ready to film a new documentary, following the life of former model and future First Lady Melania Trump. The businesswoman is also an executive producer on the show, which means she has editorial control over the film and what it shows of her private life.

Moreover, Puck News recently reported that Amazon struck a hefty $40 million deal with the soon-to-be First Lady to license the documentary and also a follow-up series. As per The Independent, this information was provided by three people who were 'familiar with the deal'.

The documentary is due to be released on Amazon Prime and in theatres later this year. The president-elect and his wife have not reacted to the announcement yet.

On Sunday 5 January 2025, a spokesperson for the streaming service explained they were looking forward to sharing Melania Trump's 'truly unique story'. They also claimed the show would offer 'an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look' at the life of the president-elect's third wife. The official statement read:

Prime Video will be sharing more details on the project as filming progresses and release plans are finalized. We are excited to share this truly unique story with our millions of customers around the world.

The announcement of the documentary comes only a few months after Amazon founder Jeff Bezos publicly congratulated Donald Trump on his presidential election, praising his 'extraordinary political comeback'. In December 2025, the streaming platform announced a million-dollar donation to the president-elect's inauguration fund.

Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States later this month.

Filmmaker has been accused of sexual misconduct

The documentary has become a rather controversial topic as it will be made by Brett Ratner, who directed the Rush Hour movies, among others. The filmmaker was accused of sexual harassment and misconduct by at least six women in the height of the #MeToo movement back in 2017. The director has not publicly worked on a film since his 2014 version of Hercules. Following accusations made by several actresses such as Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge, the Warner Bros. production company cut all ties with the director and his entertainment company.

The director has denied all accusations through his attorney, Martin Singer, and he was never charged. According to Semafor, Brett Ratner left the United States following the claims, and he now reportedly lives in Israel.
