Melania Trump is the President's third wife. Before marrying the Slovenian former model, Donald Trump had four children with two different women, Marla Maples and Ivana Trump, who reportedly learned about her husband's infidelity during a ski trip. While Melania Trump takes her role as First Lady rather seriously, not much is known about her role as a stepmother.

One of her step children, Tiffany, is currently pregnant and had a baby shower to celebrate her new baby with the closest members of her family and friends. It seems, however, that her step mother Melania was missing from the festivities.
Melania Trump skips her stepdaughter's baby shower
Donald Trump's daughter Tiffany, born from his relationship with Marla Maples, is currently expecting her first child with her husband Michael Boulos. The couple got married in 2022, and Tiffany Trump announced her pregnancy in late 2024.
On 6 April 2025, Donald Trump's daughter celebrated her baby shower, surrounded by her loved ones, during which the couple announced they were expecting a baby boy. Tiffany Trump's mother, Marla Maples, shared her joy on Instagram, saying:
A beautiful day celebrating my daughter Tiffany’s 1st baby shower surrounded by love, family, and dear friends. Thank you, Ivanka, for hosting such a stunning and heartfelt gathering — a memory we’ll cherish forever.
The event was held in Tiffany's older sister Ivanka's home in Florida, as the two women are said to have a 'close relationship'.
However, two people were notoriously missing from the baby shower: Tiffany's father and her stepmother, which is not 'surprising', according to an anonymous source.
The source, reportedly based in Florida, told Peoplethe First Lady did not give any particular reason as to why she missed her stepdaughter's baby shower. Melania Trump was apparently busy with her son Barron in New York over the same weekend.
How is the relationship between the two women?
Melania Trump began her relationship with the businessman-turned-politician when Tiffany was only five years old, so it is safe to say she has known her stepmother for most of her life. However, the two women are rarely pictured together, as Melania seems to mostly keep to herself.
While Melania's relationship with Donald Trump's eldest daughter Ivanka is reportedly strained, the former model seems to be friendlier with Tiffany Trump. According to The List, Melania's relationship with Tiffany is the warmest out of all her stepchildren, which may be explained by how young Tiffany was when Melania joined the family. Indeed, Ivanka Trump was already 17 when the couple tied the knot. It has also been reported that Barron is closest to Tiffany out of all his half-siblings.
Melania Trump reportedly takes her role as a stepmother seriously, as she told People in 2015:
I'm their friend, I'm not their mom. I met them when they were teenagers. I went to their high school graduations and college graduations, so we know each other for a long time.
In her memoir, soberly entitled Melania, the First Lady explained she had a clear understanding of the role she could play in her stepchildren's lives. She wrote:
My approach to building relationships with Donald's children has always been grounded in love and respect. As their stepmother, my role is not to replace their mothers but to nurture a supportive and amicable connection.
