Melania Trump rumoured to skip first meeting with Dr. Jill Biden

Melania Trump will soon take on the role of First Lady of the United States, once again. While it is traditional for the previous woman to welcome the next one, it seems Melania may have got other plans.

On Tuesday, 5 November 2024, Donald Trump was elected as the 47th President of the United States. He gave his first speech as the winner on stage in Florida, surrounded by his extended family. After his wife remained rather discreet for the most part of his presidential campaign, Donald Trump boasted about her 'bestselling book', before giving her a kiss in front of everyone.

While Melania Trump has already had the pleasure of being First Lady, it seems she has decided to do things her way this time, and it starts now.

Melania Trump rejects invitation from Dr. Jill Biden

Traditionally, when a US president leaves his office, the First Lady invites her successor over to the White House for tea. That is exactly what Dr. Jill Biden, the current holder of the prestigious title, intended to do as it has been reported that the two are set to meet on Wednesday 13 November.

However, according to CNN, Melania Trump may be planning on skipping it due to a 'scheduling conflict.' Nor she, or her spokesperson, have addressed these rumours, but speculation is still running rife.

Throughout history, many First Ladies accepted the invitation, despite their sometimes negative feelings towards their host, because it was tradition. Melania Trump is usually one to break tradition, but this time it has been seen as a clear sign of hostility towards her predecessor.

Indeed, the former first lady's refusal to spend an hour along with Dr. Jill Biden has been interpreted as the two having rather rocky relationship—which began before Joe Biden moved into the White House. It all started when the Trumps refused to have the Bidens over, as is tradition once again, after the 2020 presidential election.

What is the real reason behind her decision?

The future First Lady of the United States may have had several reasons not to go to the White House tea party, organised by Jill Biden. However, according to Daily Mail, it may go beyond their long-time rivalry or any scheduling issues.

Looking at the words she recently published in her new memoir, experts believe the reason is very personal. Indeed, an anonymous source is said to have told the New York Post that Melania Trump is still extremely upset by the FBI raid on her husband's Mar-a-Lago mansion back in August 2022, which she said violated her rights. The source explained:

She ain’t going. Jill Biden’s husband authorized the FBI snooping through her underwear drawer. The Bidens are disgusting.

Melania Trump has expressed herself on the subject several times over the past two years, and she shared a post on X (formerly Twitter), citing the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution, which reads as follows:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures shall not be violated.
