Melania Trump has remained pretty discreet in the past few months, as her husband is busy campaigning for the next presidential election. However, that has now changed.

Melania Trump seems to choose when to speak out, and when to remain in the shadows. Indeed, while she was nowhere to be seen during her husband's trial, which found him guilty, she has recently decided to release a brand-new memoir, in the middle of his presidential campaign.

It was a great occasion to hear what she thinks of the current state of the country. Here's what she said.

Melania Trump makes rare statement

The 2020 US presidential election resulted in the victory of president Joe Biden, but it did not go down well with Republicans, especially with their leader, Donald Trump. Indeed, the former president did everything in his power to overturn the results, claiming they were rigged. These efforts were unsuccessful, although his supporters still raided the Capitol in an effort to force the Supreme Court to act.

Since then, he has done nothing but criticise his opponents, and it seems his wife has now joined in. In a video, published on her Instagram account, the former First Lady claims the state of the country has been going downhill since Joe Biden moved into the White House. She also said her husband had been denied of his right to free speech, despite his unfiltered public speeches in recent months, for which she asked him to stop using swear words. Leaving no room for speculation about whether she is supporting her husband once more, she wrote:

The 2020 election results changed our lives forever. It impacted our quality of life, cost of food, gasoline, safety and even the geopolitical landscape.

She also added:

America is more divided today than ever before.

Melania Trump also slammed the Biden administration for allegedly trying to silence her husband, saying:

It has become increasingly apparent that there are significant challenges to free speech as demonstrated by the efforts to silence my husband.

She is promoting her new memoir

Her Instagram post was not only an opportunity to voice her opinion, but also to promote her brand-new memoir, simply entitled Melania.

Melania Trump is releasing her memoir on 1 October, and it will go on sale for $40 a copy. A signed copy costs $75, and a special edition even goes up to $250. The book is supposed to include 'stories and images never before shared with the public'. In a video posted on her Instagram account, the former First Lady reflects on her personal journey while writing the memoir. She said:

Writing this memoir has been a deeply personal and reflective journey for me.

She also hinted at the difficulty for her to open up about personal topics, while being constantly scrutinized by the media and the public. She explained:

As a private person who has often been the subject of public scrutiny and misrepresentation, I feel a responsibility to clarify the facts. I believe it is important to share my perspective: the truth.

The memoir supposedly gives an insight into Melania Trump's childhood in Slovenia, as well as her move to the US, and the couple's 'courtship'. She also mentions the joys of motherhood as she is raising her son, Barron Trump.
