It has been reported that Brett Ratner, the director of Melania Trump’s documentary, was given ‘unfettered’ access to the White House while filming.

Melania Trump is releasing a documentary about her day-to-day life following the success of her memoir back in October 2024. The First Lady revealed in an interview that the documentary was her idea, and she wanted to show the public what she does in the White House.

However, before the documentary has even been released, it has been facing some backlash. The director, Brett Ratner, is a controversial pick.

Indeed, the Rush Hour director was ‘cancelled’ in 2017 after The Los Angeles Times published an article revealing that six women had accused him of sexual misconduct. Ratner ‘categorically’ denied the accusations and was never charged.

Now, sources have claimed that his presence in the White House made Secret Service 'uneasy'.

Brett Ratner’s connection with the Trump world

According to an unnamed informant told Puck News that even before Brett Ratner had met the First Lady, he was given an eight-bedroom house at Mar-a-Lago as Melania's guest. He was given access to their inside world before they began filming together and that access only expanded once the project started.

A separate source also claimed to the media that the ‘cancelled’ director filmed inside the White House for more than 30 days and was given unprecedented and 'unfettered' access in the building. This allegedly made Secret Service 'uneasy'.

In Puck News' exclusive, the writer claims that Ratner was the ‘first and only choice’ to direct Melania’s documentary and that this may have been because of the connections the director has within Trump's world.

Indeed, back in 2013, Ratner was a partner in RatPac-Dune Entertainment, a film finance/production company, with Steven Mnuchin. Mnuchin went on to become President Trump’s Treasury Secretary during his first term.

Moreover, Brett Ratner has also partnered with Len Blavatnik, the owner of Warner Music Group and a political donor whose contributions to G.O.P. candidates (members of the Republican Party) accelerated in 2015.

Finally, rumours suggest that Elon Musk will also feature in Melania’s documentary.

Melania’s project will stream on Amazon Prime Video, which is owned by Jeff Bezos. There have also been reports that Ratner is working on another film about Donald Trump, per Puck News.

‘Where’s Melania Trump’ has been circulating again

Filming for the documentary seems to have wrapped up, and while the public is eagerly waiting for more details about its release, some are once again wondering what Melania Trump has been up to recently.

During President Trump’s presidential campaign in 2024, many noted that his wife, Melania, was not very involved. As a result, many questioned the couple’s relationship and wondered where the former model was.

It seems as though that same question could be returning, as Daily Mail asked the question, 'Where's Melania Trump?' in their latest piece on 12 February 2025. They reported that the First Lady hasn’t been seen for 18 days, and was last seen in public on January 24, 2025, when she accompanied her husband to North Carolina and California to visit devastated areas in the state.

Moreover, the First Lady’s absence at the Super Bowl on Sunday, January 9, was noted. Indeed, President Trump attended the final between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.

As per Daily Mail, Melania has also not attended some high-profile White House events, including when Trump signed the Laken Riley Act into law.

Melania’s absence could be explained by the devotion and bond she has with her son Barron, which sources have claimed is her main priority, even as First Lady. Moreover, Mrs.Trump has a habit of staying out of the spotlight for long periods of time, but that doesn't necessarily mean she's not making or planning big moves in the background.
