Mindy Kaling, B.J. Novak tease romance at Emmys 2022, here's what's going on

The exact relationship status between former The Office co-stars and ex-partners, Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak, is one riddle that everyone wants to solve ASAP.

Together: they are so good!

During their presentation at the Emmys 2022, the duo, who had worked on the script as writers for 22 episodes a year as staff writers, called the new set of limited series writers ‘lazy sons of b*tches’.

Speaking about the long-running sitcom, Novak said:

‘(It) would take up your whole life,’ with ‘no time for other projects’.

Kaling agreed, jokingly adding, ‘no time for a social life’, thus leaving the duo with ‘no choice but to form insanely complicated relationships’

Twitter is at it, again!

Right after she mouthed those words, Twitter users were super quick to speculate about the status of their relationship, according to a news report by BuzzFeed.

For the uninitiated, Mindy Kaling was referring to the rumors that Novak is the father of her two kids: daughter Katherine, 4, and son Spencer, 2. She has not revealed the name of the father to this day.

One Twitter user hilariously wrote:

‘bj novak and mindy kaling should win an emmy for acting like they don’t have a kid together’

When they had walked in, the song Baby Love by the Supremes was played in the background. Someone thought it was a ‘big troll’ on Emmys part.

Echoing similar sentiments, another said:

‘the way i SCREAMED when ‘baby love’ played as mindy kaling and bj novak walked onstage y’all are slick.’

The former celebrity couple were in an on-again-off-again relationship between 2004 to 2007. At the Emmys on Monday, they presented the award for Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series or Anthology Series or Movie to The White Lotus, as stated by The New Indian Express Indulge.

Rumors do not bother her

Mindy Kaling has been fielding questions and dealing with online speculations about the father of her two children in the past, but she has told Marie Claire just last month that the rumors do not ‘bother’ her. It is believed by some that B.J Novak is the father of her children.

‘He’s the godparent to both my kids — and they have such a great relationship — and so far [the speculation hasn’t] affected my happiness at all, it hasn’t affected my kids or B.J. If that’s what is going to be titillating to people, I’ll take it. I want them to be old enough to talk to me about it and [tell me] how they want me to talk about it,” the Tony winner said, calling her decision “super cautious.’
