Molly Mae and Tommy Fury’s new Pomeranian puppy Mr Chai has died after a sudden illness. The pup had been with the couple for less than a week, and had been one of Tommy’s 21st birthday gifts for Molly Mae. The devastated couple shared a statement to Instagram to explain to fans what had happened.

Molly Mae wrote: ‘Tommy and I are utterly heartbroken and shocked to even be writing this - Our beautiful new puppy Mr Chai was taken ill in the last few days and tragically has passed away. Chai became our whole world in the short time we had him and we couldn't have taken any better care of him. We loved him so much and he brought us more happiness than we can describe.’
It’s not yet clear exactly how Mr Chai became ill but the couple are hoping for ‘clearer answers in the coming days’ from vets. The couple had previously been criticised by fans for importing the puppy from a breeder in Russia instead of buying or adopting a dog from closer to home.
The statement continued ‘Myself and Tommy are completely in shock and truly devastated. In a world currently full of tragedy and loss, we understand there are far far greater issues than this, we just need to share this information in order to start the process of trying to accept and over come this awful situation.’
Molly Mae also shared a short video of herself playing with Mr Chai before he became ill, captioned ‘Sleep tight Mr Chai’. It’s clear that Mr Chai will be sorely missed. In his short time with Tommy and Molly Mae, they’d already been on a family picnic to the park and Mr Chai had amassed almost 150,000 followers on his own Instagram account.
