Sadly, it now seems that receiving nasty messages and trolling has become part and parcel of being a person—and especially a woman—with any kind of public profile online. As one of Love Island’s most successful stars, Molly-Mae Hague has previously spoken about receiving a deluge of hateful comments online.

How Molly-Mae handles trolls
Speaking on fellow YouTuber Patricia Bright’s advice channel, If I Could Tell You Just One Thing, she revealed how she deals with trolls, saying:
Sometimes I'll actually reply to people that send horrifying DMs. I'll just message back and be like, 'What made you wanna send this DM to me?' And then they'll probably be like, 'Oh my gosh. Molly-Mae I can't believe you replied. Love you.' Like, this really is crazy. Insane to think that these people were actually just trying to get a rise out of you, they're trying to get you to reply by sending you a foul message.
Although it sounds like replying to the trolls may just be giving them exactly what they want (i.e. attention) Molly-Mae said that she gets ‘a little kick’ out of letting them know she’s seen their nasty messages.
Tommy vs trolls
She also credited her boyfriend Tommy Fury with helping her to ignore the hate she gets from trolls online, saying:
Being around Tommy 24/7 is obviously great because those comments... Oh, my goodness. He's so good at dealing with them. Somehow it makes me feel like they just could not matter at all.
Molly-Mae’s full interview with Patricia Bright is set to be launched on Patricia’s YouTube channel tonight at 5pm BST. The episode also features interviews with DJ Cuppy and Dame Joan Collins.
