She may have over six million followers on Instagram, but Molly-Mae Hague has revealed in an interview this week that she has less than five friends in real life—and she likes it that way. Appearing on Steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast this week, Molly-Mae described herself as ‘a bit of a loner.’

Molly-Mae’s priorities
She said her priorities are ‘making money, being successful and being happy’ and that she doesn’t have time to keep up with friends. She admitted that she’s lost a lot of friends since appearing on Love Island, saying:
Look, I’d rather focus on the things that elevate me. It sounds savage but sometimes friends, they just – not cling on, but they don’t add much. I know that sounds a bit savage, but… I’m not that girl from Hitchin any more. I’m not that young girl who was a lifeguard at Hitchin swimming pool. That’s not me. I’m living in a different world now and a lot of my friends can’t relate to that.
Who are Molly-Mae’s friends?
Among the friends she does have, Molly-Mae counts her boyfriend Tommy Fury and her manager Fran ‘because we’re friends, and we talk about work and we make money.’ While she didn’t mention her in the interview, Molly-Mae has also remained close with fellow Islander Maura Higgins, despite their initially rocky start in the Love Island villa.
Earlier this year, Molly-Mae signed a seven-figure deal to become Pretty Little Thing’s UK and Europe Creative Director. However, she has been criticized by many for working for the fast-fashion brand, which has been called out for its environmental impact and ethics. An investigation by the Sunday Times in 2020 found that workers in Leicester making clothes for Pretty Little Thing’s parent company Boohoo were being paid just £3.50 an hour.
